Tokyo Game Show news!
Sep. 25th, 2009 11:49 amFor those on my flist who are interested, but not really following the news yet, Tokyo Game Show has already started. It's in day two already. :3 I haven't seen any really good announcements yet, but I figure I'll keep tabs on stuff I find interesting (and you might too).
-- Nintendo is dropping the prices on the Wii by $50. That means the system is now only $199. I can confirm this, since I've got a Toys-R-Us ad in my house right now that is advertising the system.
----> This is not only to compete with Playstation and XBox, which have been dropping prices recently, but also timed to match up with the release of the new Wii Sports Resort game, and the Wii Motion Plus.
-- Sony dropped the price of the PS3 by $100 and has released (or will release) the new PS3 Slim version. So for $299 you get a 120GB harddrive, instead of the current (fat) models, which I think are 80GB for the same price. Kind of old news by now, but interesting given how the "console wars" are heating up.
-- Sony also dropped the price of the PSP-3000 by nearly $50, but only in Japan. But in Japan, the PSP base price is more than in the US (over $200 once you convert from yen). I dunno if this means they'll be dropping the US (and UK, for you people across the pond) prices too. But it's pretty much to put the PSP Go into a better position.
----> Also, Sony is apparently going to be running a dual-console strategy between the PSP and PSP Go, instead of the PSP Go being an upgrade for the PSP. Bastards. Evidence of this is that they've pretty much shut down the rumored "trade-in" program for the PSP Go in the US, where you were supposed to trade-in your UMD games for a download to put on your PSP Go. So, that means if you buy the Go, you have to buy your games all over again. What a ripoff. Especially since the PSP Go is already priced like, $50 more than the PSP.
-- Squeenix has a rumored date of December 2009 (that's this December) for the release of FFXIII in Japan. Of course, that means the US (and rest of the world) has to wait longer, because of that crap idea to wait on releasing FFXIII for everyone else until the XBox version is done, too. *shakes fist*
-- Project Natal from Microsoft is still looking awesome.
-- Oh, and Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver apparently crushed the game sales when they were released in Japan. It almost makes me want to pick up one of them when they're released stateside. I love games where I can collect things. ♥

BWHAAHAHAHAH JUSTICE
Aug. 18th, 2009 11:13 amSony finally announced their new PS3 Slims. And not only that, they've knocked $100 off the price of PS3s. Ahhhh... this makes me feel good because I knew there had to be a price drop coming soon, just so Sony could stay competitive. That and they're probably gearing up for when Squeenix unleashes its fury with a bunch of new games.
Slowly but surely, I get closer and closer to actually owning a console to play games on.

The world is a cruel, cruel place
Jul. 7th, 2009 01:12 pmSo, last night I came upon the marvelous discovery that Sony has made a purple Vaio. It practically screams that it was made for me. T_T ♥ Unfortunately, it's part of their Signature Series, which means a bump up in price, but it's like $899, so that's not too bad, especially with all the features and beautiful color it has.
Then today, I found out that Sony has dropped official info on their new Sony Vaio W Series netbooks. Yes. An official netbook from Sony, not the overpriced (but so tiny and beautiful damn why don't you have a touchpad) Vaio P Series. The netbook drops in August and will run about $500. Pricey for a netbook, but you have to remember the Sony tax.
It's like Sony wants to kill me. :/
Now, I will add this caveat: Yes, I know there are cheaper laptops and netbooks out there. I am quite well-aware of the fact that I'm paying a premium just to have Sony Vaio stamped over my stuff. But I don't care. I paid somewhere around $1500 for my Shukaku, my beloved Sony Vaio laptop. And he has been alive and kicking for nearly five years.
Let me repeat that.
I have been using the same laptop for almost five years. That is five years of me doing EVERYTHING from word processing, to internet, to downloading, to watching movies, to chatting, to fuckimg MMORPG, on my laptop. This is nearly five years of Shukaku being turned on nearly every single day for 12 hours. Five years for $1500 os a very good investment for me. Everyone who knows me knows that I would destroy practically any lesser laptop in a year.
And previous to this, I also had a Sony Vaio laptop that ran for 4 years (took me through the end of undergrad and beginning of law school). Previous to that I had a Compaq laptop that barely made it two years, and for nearly the same price -- as laptops were kind of new then -- and is the reason I will never buy Compaq again.
So, am I Sony's bitch?
Yes, yes I am. And I'm quite glad of it.
I still want that purple laptop.

HOLY. SHIT.
May. 31st, 2009 02:33 pmFINAL FANTASY VII HAS BEEN RATED FOR PS3 AND PSP.
HOLY FUCKING GOD. They're actually re-releasing the game outside of Japan! This is why Squeenix (and Sony) owns souls.
Now if only they'd actually do a re-make with updated graphics. :3

A bunch of random things
Mar. 31st, 2009 11:31 am-- Sony dropped the price on PS2s! Now they're $99, which means I am that much closer to actually getting one. You know, if I actually had money. WHY COULDN'T THIS HAVE HAPPENED WHEN I HAD THAT $50 GIFTCARD.
-- Disneyland, why much you be so expensive? Even for a SoCal resident. T_T
-- They should just sell buckets of Cadbury Creme Eggs. Like, little decorative pails fills with eggs. I don't like this having to buy the package of four crap. I want TONS OF EGGS. I only get them once a year!
-- Gardening Mama looks cute. In that strange Cooking Mama sort of way.
-- Nooooooooooo Shukaku don't make the grindy laptop noise! Not now!

I am Sony's bitch for good reason
Jan. 9th, 2009 12:45 pmMust you make me hump your leg even more, Sony?
T_T ♥
It's so beautiful. And so small. Okay, no touchpad is kind of sucky since I'm used to it but LOOK HOW SMALL IT IS. Unfortunately, it's also $900, so for that price I'd rather have a slightly larger (and less expensive) Vaio laptop that has full functionality.
BUT IT'S SO SMALL AND CUTE OMG.
