Figured I should actually write something in my LJ that isn't about my allergies. >_>;;

Firstly, since this Friday is the first Presidential Debate between Obama and McCain (if McCain doesn't back out of it like he's currently trying to do lolz). I'm actually interested in watching it, as the topics for the evening will be centered around Foreign Affairs.

There will also be a number of Debate-Watching Parties around Riverside County. I think it would be interesting to go to one, if I can get someone to go with me. Best bet seems to be at The Winery (non-partisan, but with wine) or at the Riverside Marriott (Democrats, with a $5 fee, and cash bar, etc., as it's in the hotel).

[livejournal.com profile] aoi? [livejournal.com profile] chibi_faolan? [livejournal.com profile] sukino? You guys in?

I'm leaning towards The Winery (even if Republicans will be there), because it's Fruit Wine Friday, and you can sample 5 fruit wines for free, and get a discount if you buy them. >_>;; This will also be nice if I can manage to have one of my gaming-and-drinking weekends, like I've been putting off for months now (I play Guitar Hero better when I'm tipsy truefax).

And speaking of...

The Guitar Hero World Tour Set List.

I know there's been lots of squabbling about which is better, Rock Band 2 or Guitar Hero World Tour. I'm not a big enough gamer geek to engage in it. All I'm saying is that my money is with Guitar Hero for one reason:

The Eagles, "Hotel California".

Yes. That's it. That one song sold the game to me. Though, the Jimmi Hendrix is very nice, too. But I'm not a hardcore game player like most of the people engaging in the Band Warz are. I happily plunk and squeak my way through on the Easy and Medium settings. I still like Guitar Hero better.

Obama said, "It's more important than ever to debate, friday, about what we'll do when we're president." I don't think that he understands that decisions have to be made friday, to save the economy, not in January.

Obama also said that he'd go to Washington but will still do the debate, because it's important that a President be able to multitask. There's no "suspending" Presidency, even if multiple problems arise at once.

That is such an absolutely ludicrous statement. Look at what you just wrote here. Really look at it. I can't believe that you are buying this load of crap. You are far, far more intelligent than that.

I did look at it, and I believe a President should be able to multitask. How is it so ludicrous? You can't just say: "Well, I'm trying to work on the budget right now, so would all the wars please stop for a bit?" And you can't say, "Well, now I'm working on Defense, so push all the budgetary concerns back for a few months."

I'm not saying the current problem with the economy isn't important. In fact, it's VERY important. But I also don't think Washington should be drafting a $700 billion blank check with absolutely no oversight, and no possibility of review. A solution, yes, but not a dumb solution that's going to bite us in the ass later on.

Should the bipartisan bullshit and bear-baiting stop so that a good solution is found? Absolutely. I want Congress, all of it, to agree to some working for of a plan that goes beyond: "Here's some money, go wild."

How about heading over if I do a weekend thing? You could drop by on Saturday if you want. And if I'm actually having a thing.

:(

Ne, Sera, I'd love to go to the winery... v. glad it's nonpartisan, I'm not sure I could stand the alternative. XD I just hope it doesn't result in a barfight (even though that would be exciting)! Have you talked to Aoi?

And would you mind if I give Umi a shout to see if she and Chad want to swing by? I don't even know if they have plans, but I think she at least would enjoy it. ^^;

Also: I call vocals! :p

I doubt there would be a barfight. All the reviews I've seen say it's a kinda classy but friendly place. And no, I haven't caught hold of Aoi yet, so I dunno if we're on or not.

And if you want to mention it to them, go ahead. Maybe they'd enjoy it even if we don't go.

You can also pay the $200+ for the game and instruments kit. XDDD;;

Well, I figure the more militantly rabid right- and left-wingers wouldn't be at a nonpartisan schtick, but I'm sure stranger things have happened.

I shall advise them to leave the picket signs in the trunk. :3

... We could always go halves and share joint custody. No, don't ask me how -- my legal knowledge entails how not to go to prison, remember. XD
