Because if I don't do this all right now in one shot, I'll probably forget.

deadline is almost here! Remember, fivesome fics and art should be submitted by April 15th. There's still time to enter, too! And extensions are always generously given.

Here is the official post if you'd like to check out the rules again, or if you want to submit an offering. Surprisingly, I've already received TWO entries for this year's challenge! One art (our first!!) and One multipart fic! Huhuhu~! At least not everyone is Slow As Hell. And I'm also working on my offering(s?) for Ides.

Celebrate the Fivesome Love, everyone!

♥ --> Second, I'd like to sorta announce the opening of [livejournal.com profile] plotbunny_hutch. This is going to be my fic archive from now on. I've only got some drabbles and a few older fic in there right now, because I was working out the right format for posting, but eventually ALL my fics (including drabbles, but no WIPs) from every fandom will be placed here. I'm abominably slow about adding everything because I'm anal like that, but if you happen to have a drabble or something of mine on your LJ bookmarked or somehow saved, I'd like it, please. You don't have to search for them or anything, I'm just wondering if anyone actually puts drabbles in Memories or something for easy access. I know I drabble in other LJs, but I never remember where. ^^;; I'm also backdating entries for the right publish date, so hopefully your flist won't be spammed. Feel free to friend The Hutch.

♥ --> Third, has anyone out there ever had, or does currently own, a hamster? Are the easy to take care of? Do you have to have two so they don't get lonely? Are they mean and bite? I'd like a little hamster FAQ from people who have had them.

♥ --> Fourth, I hope everyone has a good day. ^__^

I've had five hamsters total over the years, all at separate times. They're relatively easy to care for: daily food and water checks/changes, weekly cage cleanings, and complete cage breakdowns and scrubbings every month or 6 weeks.

From both working in a pet store and owning them myself, I've found that it's best to keep them separately, just to keep breeding and fighting a non-issue. I know some people can keep same-sex (usually female) pairs together without a problem, but they've usually had a large amount of experience with hamsters and their behavior.

Also, most of the cages out there aren't well made for hamsters (or other rodents). The Habitrail ones (with all the tubes and connectors) break easily, are hard to clean, and retain heat and humidity, which can be fatal.

They are nocturnal, which means they'll be active and making noise throughout the night. I've usually had to move them to a different room because they were so loud. They can get used to handling in the day, but it can take some work.

If you're looking for a friendly small rodent that enjoys being held and social interaction, I'd recommend a rat or two. They do need larger cages, but the smell is about the same, rats are harder to lose if they get away from you, and they are so much more friendlier than hamsters (in my personal opinion :) ).

If you have any specific questions, let me know :)

[livejournal.com profile] thejennabides keeps hamsters - she keeps hers in separate cages. There was an ugly incident between Quatre-hamu and Heero-hamu. >.>;; That's about all I know of hamsters. ^^;; *is no help*

When it comes to furry little rodents, I've had good experience with gerbils. They're cute, friendly, don't bite (unless you make a habit of feeding them corn through the cage bars and then sticking in your fingers) curious and playful, and very social, so you need at least two to keep each other company. They're desert animals, so they don't smell much, or make much noise other than scuffling around the cage.
