Goodbye LJ...

This is just to make it official for those who don't know, but I'm leaving LJ completely. For the rest of this week at least. Tomorrow is the Bar Exam and it runs for three days, so don't expect to see me about at all until Thursday night. Or even until the weekend since I plan on spending Thursday after the Bar drunk and crying. No online time for me at all. *whines* It will be hard, but I know I can do it.
So, because I'm a total h0r like that, I am declaring this to be a spam post. Go ahead. Run wild! Give me fics, give me links, give me pics, just babble to your heart's content and rape my inbox so I have something to see when I finally DO come back to the wonderful world of LJ. I don't even care if you write me a drabble and post it one word at a time. XD;
Though, I've tried to make a spam post before and it failed a bit miserably, so I don't have very high expectations this time around. Feel free to prove me wrong though!

Re: Spoil of War, book 2
Date: 2006-02-28 01:29 am (UTC)You could feel them coming, if you listened, if you held so still that you grew roots into the ground and your blood forgot how to move through your body. You could feel the earth groan as the thousands on thousands of feet tramped across it, you could feel it in the sudden silence of the birds, in the creak and sway of the sleeping trees, in the wavering columns of air that shut out the stars. If you let yourself listen like the world listened, breathless still, you could hear them coming.
The army.
Marching.
War.
“Welcome, gentlemen.” There was no welcome in Wufei’s voice; the politeness was but a screen to shut away the grim nature of the meeting. “Colonel Vant. Colonel Yuy.” He nodded to each of them in turn, and indicated that they should seat themselves. “I’m glad to have you back from Zion, Colonel.”
Heero seated himself wordlessly at the end of the table, not bothering to respond to the General’s pleasantries. Vant had met Heero Yuy before, even worked with him a few times, and knew better than to expect any kind of response out of him socially. Heero Yuy was business, all business, and the business was death. Vant concealed a shudder as he sat, his two lieutenants placing themselves on either side of him without needing to be told. He folded his hands and smiled politely across the table at Wufei. “It’s good to be back, General Chang,” he replied. “But I’m certain you didn’t call this meeting just to welcome me to Baruji. So what’s the business?” Out of respect, he smiled and opened his hand towards Heero, not expecting any kind of reply. He nearly fell out of his seat in shock when Heero returned a grave nod; his piercing stare, for the first time, actually focused directly on his fellow officer. Vant couldn’t force his mouth to close properly; was this really Heero Yuy?
“No, I haven’t.” General Chang’s voice broke across his surprise, and brought everyone’s attention back to the business at hand. Tight grim lines gathered at the corners of his face, and the set of his jaw cried to anyone who cared to look of just how serious the matter was. “I called you both here to give you some rather unpleasant -- although not unexpected -- news.”
Vant took a deep breath, and braced himself. “What news, General?”
Heero said nothing. He already knew.
