This is just to make it official for those who don't know, but I'm leaving LJ completely. For the rest of this week at least. Tomorrow is the Bar Exam and it runs for three days, so don't expect to see me about at all until Thursday night. Or even until the weekend since I plan on spending Thursday after the Bar drunk and crying. No online time for me at all. *whines* It will be hard, but I know I can do it.

So, because I'm a total h0r like that, I am declaring this to be a spam post. Go ahead. Run wild! Give me fics, give me links, give me pics, just babble to your heart's content and rape my inbox so I have something to see when I finally DO come back to the wonderful world of LJ. I don't even care if you write me a drabble and post it one word at a time. XD;

Though, I've tried to make a spam post before and it failed a bit miserably, so I don't have very high expectations this time around. Feel free to prove me wrong though!

which Heero now recognized it as a fat gold locket, at Heero, eyes entreating.
Heero started to speak, then closed his mouth. He should refuse it, absolutely. This could be the perfect setup to plant a bug on him, a tracker -- a listening device -- maybe even a bomb. There could be no advantage to taking it, and only dangers.
Maybe Duo saw this in his face, because he added, "Just for luck, okay? I've always -- It would just make me feel better if you took it with you, for good luck. Something that would make you think of me, when you're in your suit fighting."
He trusted Duo. The thought came to him with such certainty that before he knew what he was doing his hand had reached out to close over the little metal thing, and Duo's face lit with such happiness that he couldn't make himself give it back. "Thank you," he added after he thought of him.
"Hey, no problem, man!" Duo said, bouncing slightly as all cheer was restored. Further conversation was interrupted by a roaring whine of an engine starting, filling the hangar with its noise and wind. "I've gotta go!" Duo shouted over the uproar, catching his braid in one hand to keep it from flapping. "See you on the flip side, Yuy!"
Heero had, of course, put Duo out of his mind once he got in his Gundam, once he launched, once he met the enemy and began the battle. He needed to focus all his attention on the task at hand, and his mind had no room for wandering.
But he thought of Duo again, though he didn't know why, when one last deep-space mine detonated too close, and his suit was rocked by a horrible, jarring lurch the like of which he had not felt since the day he stood in his hatch and pressed the self-destruct. It shook him to his bones, and with a flash of light and a sound that temporarily numbed his senses, he found himself thinking of Duo again.
His mind was suddenly lucid, with an understanding that he did not have time to form into words, and in the instant before his universe ripped apart, his lips parted and he whispered one word.
In the next instant, his cockpit was filled with a strange golden light, unlike any that should have come from his panels. He felt a strange, invasive warmth which should have burned, but it only took his breath away. His momentary disorientation passed, and he reached out his hands and resettled his grip on the controls, in command once more.
Wing responded to him strangely, brokenly, but he was able to make his

way out of the field of spinning shrapnel, until his radar was clear. He saw that the battle was over, that his fellow pilots were clearing up all the enemies that the mine hadn't blown apart, and he flicked on his comm system to report that he was headng back into the ship for repairs.
The strange golden glow dimmed slowly as he flew back home, but didn't vanish entirely until he was parked once more in the hangar. He unlocked his harness and opened the hatch, listening with concern to the shrieks of protest the metal machinery gave.
He dropped to the deck beside one of the mechanics, who was looking up at the mech with a mixture of awe and dismay. "Christ the Sailor!" the man exclaimed as Heero came up behind him, shaking his head but not looking away. "I knew you were a miracle worker, 01, but I just don't believe this. How did you even get back to the ship with this damage?"
Heero frowned, and looked back at his suit. "The control systems were not too badly damaged," he said.
"That's not what I'm talking about," said the mechanic. "She'd move, all right, but you shouldn't. I know they say in the mess that you're not human, Yuy, but even superhumans need to breathe!"
"What?" Heero looked back at the man in bafflement.
"Look, there!" The mechanic flung his arm up a long score in the side of the Gundam's torso. "That piece of shrapnel drilled right through the Gundanium plating and holed the cockpit. You should have lost all your air in a matter of seconds!"
He looked at the pilot, who didn't speak, didn't move. "Just one of those damndest things, huh?" he said.
Still not getting a response, he shook his head, sighed, and moved of, to round up a team of mechanics to repair the damage. He left the pilot there, still not moving, staring up at the jagged dark hole through the Gundam's side.
After a long time, he reached slightly trembling fingers into the inside pocket of his flight suit and pulled out the locket still there. It seemed dull and tarnished, no doubt from the dirt and sweat of his uniform. He'd meant to open it, before the battle, to verify that there were no electronics, nothing dangerous; he'd never had the time.
He opened it now. No wires, no metal plates; no metal at all. Just the black, brittle remains of an outline whose shape felt like it had no meaning. At the slightest touch, it crumbled away, leaving only ashes.
