Mmmmrrrr... went out shopping today. >_O Now I remember why I don't go shopping unless absolutely necessary. I had to buy new dress shoes for my suits, since I'm going to the BAPALSA Conference tomorrow. It's an all-day thing, and I'm going to be out very early. Norm told me it was business-casual, but whatever. I'll just jut on a nice suit, especially since this is a good networking opportunity, and we might go drinking afterwards.

^_~*

So, I hauled down to Serramonte Plaza for all my shopping needs. The first thing I bought was a new rice cooker. *pets it* Yay! Now I'll be able to have rice!

Anyway, I decided to have a bit of leisure time as well, so I popped into a B. Dalton just to see what was about. Nothing interesting, but I did stand for a very long time in front of the LOTR display and pawed through the picture books. For some reason, I was tickled to find out that Merry's Rohan armor belonged to Theoden when he was a boy, the sword, too. And, of course, Pippin was wearing one of the Gondor uniforms Faramir had as a boy.

Oh! And [livejournal.com profile] aoi? I was right. Aragorn DOES wear Boromir's vambraces through TTT and RotK. Even at the end, in his Kingly Battle Mordor Outfit, the vambraces are Boromir's, which is why they're not all black and silver. Heheheh... I think I want to buy that LOTR Weapons and Warfare book, if only for the detailed costume descriptions.

I am much amused that under all his chainmail and armor, Boromir is wearing silk and velvet. The descriptions of Boromir as a "big and broad" man also tickled me. XD XD XD

*pets uke!Boromir*

After the squealiness, I headed over to Macy's, which was having a bit of a sale. X3 But all the shoes I liked that were on sale weren't in my size. ;_; Damn my size 6 1/2s... damn them! But, I did find this nice pair of pumps that wasn't on sale, but DID fit me, in size 6.

Why can't shoe manufacturers make the same size?!

Anyway, one of the brands of shoes I liked was Naturalizer, and there happened to be a Naturalizer store outside of the Macy's. They were putting in new stock and were having a 25-50% off sale, so the two male clerks there were swamped. But one was Amazingly Gay, thus proving that the Pr0n Godz smile down upon me. I asked him for a 6 1/2 (of the same shoe Macy's didn't have), and what he brought out for me was FOUR DIFFERENT STYLES of shoes (that he said I would like because he noticed me shopping around the store), and A PURSE TO MATCH.

*flaaaaaaaaaaaame!*

I was sad they didn't have the shoe I wanted in stock, but I bought this other cute pair that was, thankfully, 50% off. All in all, I think a spent a bit over $100 on two pairs of shoes.

*wince*

After that was "me" shopping (which usually means wandering around and touching things without actually buying anything), so I immediately went to the Mrs. Field's and bought Milk Chocolate Chip cookies to snack on. I hit a number of stores (including Suncoast, of course), and actually remembered to buy a blowdryer. My hair looks nicer blowdried, because it gets fluffy and my streaks show up more.

Then I bought a nice dinner from Panda Express. *munches on it* I very good day shopping, though I suppose I should be on the lookout for more business-type wear.

-----------------------

On a semi-connected note... is it me, or does food and sex come up in my LJ alot? What does this say about me?

*ponders*

*goes to finish dinner*

EDIT...

ARGH! THE BUNNIES!!! HOW COULD I FORGET THE BUNNIES?!

*coughs* Hurm... well, Serramonte also has a pet store. And right when I went in, there's this pen-thing with BUNNIES! Little fluffy baby bunnies that you can pet, but the sign says NOT to pick them up.

*____________*

I just HAD to pet this teeny little grey babby bunny that had managed to climb up on the food dispenser thingy. So he was chowing down while the other bunnies had to fight for places at the regular food tray.

HE WAS SO CUTE! *seizures* I SO wanted to buy him and take him home with me! He was so small and cute and fluffy and grey and OMGWTFAAAAAAAAARGHHHH!!!111one!1

I had to leave before the overwhelming cuteness of the bunnies destroyed my soul.

;__;

That reminds me of a shopping experience I had back in my pre-yaoi days, read, before I realized just how many people in the world were Amazingly Gay. Needless to say it ended up with the store clerk and my guy friend entering into a competition to see who could find the shirt that looked best on me.

I knew that already. ^_^ But they're both bigger than gerbils.

Should I buy a blowdryer? *ponder*

Was your guy friend Amazingly Gay as well? And I would suggest a blowdryer if you want your hair fluffier. And going to bed with a wet head sucks.

Considering that with one exception, he managed to date every single one of my female friends in high school, I think he was Amazingly Bi.

Tell me about it! I think as long as I'm going to make a habit of showering late at night, I'd better get one.

BEWARE THE BUNNIES!

I am *so* serious about this! We have a rabbit. It was once a really cute, oh *so* adorable little flop-earred baby bunny that fit in the palm of your hand.

He grew. And wow. MESSY!. He kicks up his bedding *all* the time, sometimes refuses to eat the food that's *good* for him, developes strange fur things and...wow. We take care of him, but sometimes we just get really busy. We'd get rid of him if we could, but my little sister is unbelievably attatched to him. So am I, but sadly I'm allergic to him (not deathly so, just...uncomfortably so.)

Unless you have a*lot* to time to spend w/ a bunny, don't get one.

They're cute, but really, NOT an indoor pet! Now...if you have the right weather, and the room for an outdoor rabbit hutch, then have fun! Otherwise, look, love, and cuddle from afar, but don't buy.

Seriously.

I had two bunnies and they were fine being appartment pets. But you gotta take a very small breed. If they're rabbits and not dwarf bunnies, then yeah, it can get messy. Also, I would suggest choosing one who looks lazy compared to the other bunnies (though not one who gets scared easily, my friend's bunny died from fright when it heard a door slam). My first one was a jumper. He climbed EVERYTHING. He could jump as high as my waist, an we had to install planks to block the doors to the rooms he wasn't supposed to get in and protect the phone and electricity lines. They also both liked to hide in and under furniture. But they could both be trained to use a litter box like a cat, though I guess they did take longer than a cat would have to get it. I even trained my first bunny to climb stairs and jump through hoops, and they both recognized their names very well, since it usually meant food. XD (it was so funny to see Puce skid at the end of the corridor as he tried to run and turn at the same time)

They were both incredibly cuddly. My first bunny even jumped on my bed and laid down against me to get petted when I went to sleep. (I didn't forget to hunt him down and put him back in his cage after he landed on me by accident when I was falling asleep. They have sharp, non-retractable claws. Which unless they have something to dig into, need cutting often, but the vet can show you how to do it)

They needed a lot of newspaper and branches to chew on, and they did have a tendency to nibble on the furniture. Also, Tito did the bambi trick thingie, where he slammed both feet on the floor-- or the bottom of his cage. That's noisy. And no cage in the bedroom, like NEVER. Not only do they make a lot of noise (rearranging dishes, digging in their hay, or chewing on things) at random times, but they don't smell so good when you're trying to sleep. If you clean the cage at least once a week, you're not going to notice either during the day, but you so would during the night.

They are fine staying in the cage all day when you're not here, provided they have hay to chew on, water and a full dish, but it's good if you let them get out a bit in the evening. Never alone in a room, though, and unless you know their habits well, you would have to keep track of them carefully. I panicked a few times when they found hiding places I would never have thought of and took a nap while I searched all around the place.

Also, appartment bunnies easily get sick if they're kept in the cold or in an air draft, and there are a few things they HAVE to get vaccinated against, like myxomatosis. Puce died of that and it was the most atrocious thing I ever witnessed. T_T It did things to him... god. *shudders* I didn't forget to get Tito vaccinated.

But if you take care of them, they're so incredibly cute, cuddly and fluffy. A lot like cats, except cats would hate you forever if you kept them in a cage while you're not here. *____* I would so get another one, but my dog is a moron. (he was afraid of Tito, by the way, because Tito wasn't afraid of anything. He was a very seme-bunny. Also, he humped the dog's tail XD)

I do not suggest doing as I was doing with Puce and put a harness and leash on da bunny to get it out and eat some grass. ou'd think they like it, and they do, but when they're used to dry food, it gives them diarrhea and other fun stuff like parasites.

Average lifetime is six, I think. Tito died well into his seventh year from old age. Puce was only one year old, but then he fell sick. T_T
(if you can, get a female. males can spray like tomcats, and they try to hump everything. Unless you find it fun to make them run after your plushies... XD )

I didn't know you had bunnies, Asuka. Anyway, I don't think I'll get one. My apartment is small and I don't think I would give the bunny the love and attention it needs. Maybe someday though... when I have the time and a bigger place.

I had to explain to my bf what the difference between a hamster and a guinea pig is. "You see that in that cage in my room? Well, it could eat hamsters for breakfast! And still have room for a few gerbils." ;) My guinea is... pretty large!

And I can so see the little bunny you found! *cries with the cute*

Yeah, I was surprised. I didn't think guinea pigs were that big. For some reason, I thought they were hamster size.
