Finally got around to doing this. ^^

My birthday actually started on Thursday night. XD;;

[livejournal.com profile] sukino, [livejournal.com profile] aoi, and later [livejournal.com profile] chibi_faolan showed up to hang out at my house (in K-chan's case) and spend the night, since it would be easier if Aoi, Pet, and I left from the same place in the morning instead of driving everywhere or taking separate cars to Disneyland. Krispy Kremes were had, and I received two gifts! Pet made me a life-sized plush Soul Eater (Riku and Repliku's blade from Kingdom Hearts ♥ ), and K-chan gave me a funny book on law. Aoi said my present from her wasn't finished yet. After Pet mocked my cooking abilities and was very ungrateful that I shared my dinner with her, we went to McDonald's because Pet needed MOAR FOOD and Aoi wanted ice cream... which later attacked her because she's lactose intolerant lolz. >_>;;

We spent the night being loud dorks and watching a marathon of Millionaire Matchmaker. It was surprisingly funny to mock. HURRICANE ANDREW~!! :x But that was a sort of not good idea because we went to bed at 1 AM, and had to be up at 7 AM. DX

Friday morning started bright and early! Only less with the bright and more with the overcast and rainy. I didn't get out of bed until about 7:30 AM (I decided an extra 30 minutes of sleep was necessary), and woke up Pet and Aoi. We devoured more Krispy Kremes for breakfast, and got our gear together, and we piled into my car (with my BUT A WOLF?! watching us from the dashboard). I swung through Starbuck's first because I desperately needed that Venti Caramel Machiatto. And one of those nifty sausage breakfast sandwiches. Everyone got coffee, actually. Because caffeine is good.

THEN WAS THE DRIVING.

Which actually wasn't too bad for a Friday morning during rush hour, except for a slowdown for no reason at all. And the rain. But I assure Aoi and Pet that because it was my birthday, it wouldn't rain at Disneyland. Because it was my birthday. And I hate the rain. MY DAY WOULD NOT BE RUINED BY WEATHER.

Then we parked! And I finished my coffee and sandwich. Then we got on the tram to take us from the parking lot to the park.

At this point I must mention that me and Pet can get abnormally loud when we're discussing things, so I was aware of people on the tram giving us weird looks as we discussed The World Ends Without You and how gay Joshua is. Conclusion: Joshua is SUPERGAY.

Then there was standing in a line to get our tickets, and I found out that LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME BIRTHDAY AS ME. And, like me, they weren't going to give up a free admission to Disneyland just because it was overcast and chilly out. Pfff. I was prepared and wearing layers. And because of the current So Cal thing, I got a TwoFer ticket for free, instead of just the Disneyland Park admission! So now I get to go to Disneyland California for free! If I go within a month. XD;;

AND THEN FINALLY DISNEYLAND.

First was a stop at City Hall, so that Aoi and Pet could get their special ~*~CELEBRATION~*~ buttons. I already got my special ~*~BIRTHDAY~*~ button at the ticket booth, which meant every castmember who saw my button said Happy Birthday to me. ♥ I felt quite awesome all day.

We consulted the map to plot out our course for the day. Or, at least, for the first couple of hours. We headed for New Orleans Square first, so that I could go to the Blue Bayou restaurant and see if we could get reservations for dinner. Unfortunately, they were booked for the whole day, but the girl there said I could try and come by and walk-in if there were cancellations. T_T

Of note: the FastPass machines for the rides are fucking awesome.

Since we were in the area, we got a FastPass for Indiana Jones. We had an hour before we could ride, so we managed to hit Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, and ride Mark Twain's Riverboat before then. And because Pet is badass, she asked the castmember working there if we could go up to the captain's room so I could pilot the steamboat. :3 The castmember ended up being the captain for our ride, so he let us up immediately. And in front of the other people in line BWAHAHAHA. It was so cool to see everything from up there, and I even got to pull the boat whistle and got a certificate for piloting. ^______^

After riding Indy (lolz riding Indy), we got the FastPass for Big Thunder Mountain. Whenever I go to Disneyland, I make it my mission to -- at the very least -- ride all of the mountains and Indy. After this we had lunch at Carnation Cafe in Main Street, where I had the most absolutely delicious baked potato soup I have ever had. And Pirate's Punch in a collectible cup, along with a light-up Tinkerbell that would become very important later in the evening. ♥ The waitress was also supernice and managed to get Aoi and Pet two light-up Cars figures even though they didn't get the punch. And I got a free ice cream for dessert, which had a Mickey-shaped candy of dubious nature.

Obviously, this meant I had to put it in my mouth and suck on it to see if it was actually a candy or a surprisingly delicious piece of plastic. >_>;; It was candy! No harm done.

Then was getting the FastPass for Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, followed by much wandering about ToonTown and Fantasyland. Anyway, after ToonTown, and much sitting on a nice bench to let lunch settle and absorbing the sunshine -- YES I MADE THE SUN COME OUT ON MY BIRTHDAY -- we wandered through Fantasyland again. We noticed the line for It's A Small World was reasonable, so we jumped in. Man, they totally made it shinier than I remember it being. And yes, they did add Disney characters in appropriate places on the ride (i.e.: Aladdin and Jasmine in the Middle East part, Lilo and Stitch in Hawaii, etc.). It wasn't too horrible or gaudy or stuck out though. I actually had fun trying to find out who was where.

AND THEN LIKE A MIRACLE... exactly as we walked out of Small World, they were setting up for the Celebrate! A Street Party Parade. I made Aoi and Pet suffer though it, because I'm a sucker for parades. ♥ ♥ ♥ It was horribly cheesy and at times quite painful to watch, but Pet counted 6 black people, so it was not racist (that's an inside joke btw). I think they wanted to kill me by the end of it though. XDDDD!

Unfortunately, the castmember at Car Toon Spin was mean. D:< Not only did she not say Happy Birthday to me, she didn't let me keep my FastPass ticket. See, normally they take the tickets when you get on the ride (so you can't keep riding over and over without waiting), but I had been asking everyone if I could keep my tickets for my scrapbook. All the other castmembers were cool with it and let me keep my ticket. This girl took it. RAWR. Now I have a gap.

FastPass for Splash Mountain was acquired. Because the sun was peeking out of the clouds and things were getting a bit warm. Oh, and at some point we got a locker for Aoi to stuff her bag into, because she was getting tired of carting it around. We also got to be dorks in the Mad Hatter store, because trying on weird hats is superfun.

... then we rode Splash Mountain.

Should I mention that by this time it was after 5pm? We decided that we'd hit Splash, then have dinner because then we could dry off from Splash in a nice, warm, and comfortable environment.

HOWEVER! A bright spot occurred while we were in the line. I asked the castmember when we were entering if I could keep my FastPass ticket for my scrapbook. The three of us had talked about it and pretty much decided that she'd probably take it, since the Toontown girl did. However, this castmember was nice and said happy birthday and let me keep the ticket!

PET TOTALLY WENT OFF. She went into a rant not-directly-aimed at the startled castmember, about the mean girl in Toontown. I managed to explain to the castmember that the other girl hadn't let me keep the ticket, and didn't even wish me happy birthday. Then the castmember told us: "Well, that's horrible! I shouldn't do this, but this is a special pass that let's you ride any ride and go to the front of the line like a FastPass. It works on everyone in your group." So she GAVE ME that special ticket and sent us on our merry way after we thanked her profusely. We vowed to use the ticket for Space Mountain, because the line was over an hour long, and it had stopped giving out FastPasses.

We did not expect to get as utterly drenched on Splash as we did. Or as I did, because I was the one shoved to the front of the log. At first it was okay, but then there was a log jam, and the second splash soaked the pants of all of us, and the final big splash pretty much destroyed me. T___T I was completely soaked from the hips down, and it didn't help that we got stuck on the ride tilted backwards for a time, which meant the water all swooshed back and soaked our asses. I WORE SPECIAL PANTS THAT DRY FAST, BUT NOT IF I'VE BEEN SITTING IN A PUDDLE. Also, the leggings I was wearing underneath my pants (for extra warmth) were cotton knit. :/ S-so absorbent.

I came off the ride feeling like I'd just been blitzed. I was so traumatized.

x____X;;

And then, at this point, the clouds rolled back in and the temperature dropped because the sun was setting. Whoo.

BUT MIRACLE OF MIRACLES, WE MANAGED TO GET INTO THE BLUE BAYOU FOR DINNER.

We went back there, drenched from Splash, and I talked to the guy who had been there earlier (we checked before Splash and he said to come back in an hour to see if he could get us in). AND HE DID. There was a cancellation, or someone just didn't show up, so we were able to go in for dinner! ♥ ♥ ♥ We had to wait for a half hour in the waiting area, but that was okay because it was quite warm.

... and the bench I was sitting on had an absorbent padding. >_>;;

DINNER WAS FUCKING DELICIOUS.

I could go on and on about how good the food was. I had the five pepper roast New York. It was a steak that was an INCH THICK. With something like au gratin potatoes and a side of white asparagus and broccolini. Pet had the jambalaya, which she said was spicy and fought her all the way down. Even the next day, it was still sitting in her chest. XD;; Aoi had the Tesora Island chicken, I think, because she was iffy about the couscous (she was avoiding dairy products after the ice cream incident the night before). Oh, and my starter was the salad, which was delicious also, and had bits of some spicy sausage that had a nice kick. Aoi and Pet chose the gumbo, which they both say was very authentic and cajun.

And then I got a birthday dessert of chocolate mousse with whipped cream for free. There was even a birthday candle in it. ^___^ And it was fucking delicious. The mousse was so chocolatey that I was cutting it with the whipped cream to make the chocolate less rich. Aoi and Pet didn't believe me until they both had a taste, then they both freaked out over it. XD!! Aoi actually looked like she got punched in the face when she tasted the mousse.

After dinner, things were very cold and dark and a bit windy, and I was starting to get really cold because I was still more-than-damp on my whole bottom half. The only saving grace was that my socks and shoes were miraculously dry, or else I might've just given up there. We decided to try and find a place near the Castle to sit and wait for the Fireworks show. Things got emo and upsetting and crowded and cold and miserable for a couple hours while we waited. Mitigated by the fact that me and Aoi went to Main Street to see if I could find something dry and inexpensive to buy and wear instead of my still damp jacket and pants. Dry was available. Inexpensive was not. =__=;;

And it didn't help that the cold and wet and walking foreverrrrr made my knee act up. My left knee has a tendency to get stiff in cold weather (or when it's going to rain), so I was starting to limp pretty badly after dinner and for the rest of the night.

BUT THERE WERE FIREWORKS. I FUCKING LOVE FIREWORKS. THE SHOW WAS SO COOL. AND AOI DIDN'T AVOID THE TIKI ROOM SONG.

The fireworks perked me up quite a bit, so we made our way to Tomorrowland to hit Space Mountain and use the special pass we had. I wasn't allowed to keep that, but the castmember gave me a FastPass to keep instead, so that was okay. ^^ Last ride was the Matterhorn somewhere around 11pm. There was some douchey woman in front of us; she and her daughter totally cut in front of us in the line, when I asked Aoi and Pet to slow down a bit because I was limping REALLY BAD. Like, they were behind me, heard me say "please slow down my knee hurts" and practically shoved their way past me to get ahead in the line. Then the woman had the gall to interrupt our conversation to say she learned Spanish XX years ago -- we had been amused by the ride announcements in multiple languages, one of which was Spanish, and I had been telling Aoi and Pet that the only thing I know in Spanish is "Donde esta la bibliotecha?" UGH.

We listened to a band playing at the stage in Tommorrowland for a bit, then meandered through Fantasyland. We rode the comfy benchride in some forgotten corner of Sleeping Beauty's Castle. XD;; It's this tiny room with a storybook and a comfy padded bench throne thing. Nothing much to look at, but we were tired and the room was warm and the bench was comfy and fit three. Then was wandering Main Street and looking into shops. Pet wouldn't let me buy a caramel apple to eat as a midnight snack. T___T I still don't know why she flipped out on meeeeeeee. I just wanted a delicious treat.

World of Disney store was visited after we left the park, then back on the tram, and the painful painful long walk back to the car, through the non-rapeable parking structure. Seriously. That parking structure is so well-lit and has no hidden corners, so Disney must really be trying to keep molestations to a minimum for fear of lawsuits.

Once at the car, I finally could strip out of my damp pants and jacket (hush, I was wearing leggings under my pants), cranked up the heater, then we drove back to my house. We rolled in at 1:30 AM and promptly crashed.

It was a good birthday.

I really want to ride it over and over, so I can see all three rooms. We went through the Youth room, and I know I've been through at least one other.

I shouldn't have worried about the food reviews. The food was super delicious. I bet the bad reviews were written by bitter people. :P

It's fun at Small World because it's in German and Japanese too.
