I AM SO PISSED RIGHT NOW

So after over 5 years, someone hacked my account on Gaia. I AM SO PISSED. The hacker also changed the name from 'windandwater' to 'waterandwind', as well as stole my Bunny Slippers, Ports and Angelic Mini Wings. They might've taken more but I can't tell SINCE I CAN'T GET INTO MY ACCOUNT.

I am so upset right now. Especially since the Bunny Slippers were given to my by Zanzan/driftingdoll ( ♥ ) and my Ports were a gift from Louise/girl_starfish ( ♥ ).

T_T I hope so. But this could take months. And Gaia tends to have the mindset of "you lost it? too bad buy it again". I could NEVER buy those items back again EVER. They're collectibles and have sentimental value.

Awwwww Louise. T_T ♥ You're so nice. This really is sucky. I mean, I never felt afraid of wearing my pricey items before, but now I'm sure that's why I was targeted.

I have no idea. But there's always been hacking attempts that I've been aware of, since Gaia shuts down your account for a 15 minutes if too many attempts are made to get in (i.e. wrong password). It was probably some kind of bot or script doing it.

Or someone was really determined to target me in particular, since I was wearing expensive items.

If you got a string of emails about repeated attempts to log-in, and they're shutting access to your account for 15 minutes, then yes, that's probably the brute force hacking bot.

So far I've been lucky on both of mine. But then I don't have any of the really expensive items because I buy, I keep for a while and then I sell and buy something else. I'd never be able to collect enough gold to buy any of the big collectibles anyway.


I forgot to mention that the Gaia admins have said that they are trying very hard now to resolve hacking issues a lot faster than they used to. I think you saw from some of the responses in your Gaia thread that it's taking a month or less now.

Instead of editing again, I am just going to respond to my response. Last night there was a pair of bunny slippers in the marketplace for sale for 55,000,000 gold. It was a one day sale because I remember there was about 13 hours left on the sale. This was about 11:30 last night central time. The seller's name was either a_smart_girl or very_smart_girl and the profile was hidden.

It is a bit strange that there happened to be one pair of bunny slippers on sale on the same day you were hacked, especially since they rarely become available on marketplace. The listing isn't there now so I don't know if the sale expired or if someone shelled out the gold. I would imagine that the admins would be able to trace the seller, especially since neither name shows up on a username search now.

It's also too bad you can't look up marketplace listings by seller.

Did you really? Do you mind posting about what you saw in the Marketplace in my thread on Gaia? It might be helpful in tracking down things.

I know lots of people are getting good turn-around times for hackings, but some take a long time, too. Hopefully, me losing so MUCH will make things happen faster. I don't want to have to throw a bitchfit in the forums about this. :/
