This is it. I'm leaving the house in a little bit to go to the hotel, so I'm pretty much going to be absent from LJ and online for the rest of the week. Even if the hotel has free wireless, I think I'll be too stressed out to take advantage of it.

As I did last time, this is now A TOTAL SPAM POST.

Buffy glared, but didn’t respond, except to say, “All right. Sit down. And send your boys away.”

A few well placed words from Spike, punctuated by a few growls from Drusilla, sent the other vampires scurrying. Angel and Willow took the newcomers aside for briefing as Buffy glared around, daring someone else to interrupt. Nobody did. Spike and Dru took their places in the empty chairs between Xander and Oz as Buffy sat again.

“Now,” Buffy commanded. “Total share mode.” She pointed at Cordelia. “You first.”

Cordelia took a deep breath, as if nervous or unsure how much to say. Her hands rubbed nervously against the fabric of her jeans as she began, hesitantly, to speak.

“I... I’m not sure how to say this, I’ve been hiding it so long... I just want you guys to know that actually, I’ve wanted to be friends with you—especially you—” she nodded at Xander and Willow, “—for as long as I’ve known you. I just never felt that I was good enough for you, deep inside, so I tried to pretend like I didn’t care, that I thought you were a bunch of losers, until I was caught in my own web of lies...” Cordelia broke off abruptly, covering her face with her hands, her shoulders shaking. Without another word, she got up and fled the room.

The Slayerettes stared after her. Murmuring an excuse, Oz got up and went after her. One by one, the others looked to Jenny, who had been sitting next to Cordelia.

“My turn?” she asked. “Oh... okay. I’m not really a computer teacher. I’m actually a gypsy demon enchantress. I was drawn here by the mystical energy of the Hellmouth. Currently, I’m sneaking into the library at night and going through Rupert’s books, looking for a way to thwart a prophecy concerning my death. I think I may have something, but it involves the ritual sacrifice of someone with whom I’ve—” She cut herself off with a cough, darting a quick, guilty glance at Giles. “—well, we can get into details later.” She turned to Giles, who was next in line.

He blinked at her in astonishment. “You’ve been going through my...” Glares from the other Slayerettes hurried him on. “Ah. Yes. My secrets. Well, to start with, I’m fond of playing Frank from Rocky Horror Picture show. I’m married to a vampire sorceress, and my invincible children have returned to kill us all. Plus I like coffee. Taster’s Choice.”

On this note, Oz returned. “Sorry, did I miss anything?” he asked Willow as he sat down next to her. She filled him in quietly as Angel began to speak.

“I’ve got a lot to tell and not much time to tell it in, so I’ll keep it short. I actually made up that whole curse story. I belong to a gang of highly sophisticated Kindred—er, vampires, and I’ve just been using Buffy as a cheap lay.” At the expression on her face, he felt obliged to add, “but a good one.”

Xander, next up, raised an eyebrow at the vampire in astonishment. “Wow,” he said. “Me? I’m actually an Immortal—I can only die if my head gets cut off. I build bombs in my spare time and as soon as I turn eighteen I’m off to join the army. I’ve been in bed with everybody in this room with the exception of Buffy, hence my obsession with her. And that reminds me, Angel,” he added as an afterthought. “Your sheets need changing.”

The Billy Idol Wannabe’s eyes were wide as he took this in, but it didn’t stop him from adding his dark secrets to the pile. “I sometimes sneak out at night and do good deeds. I read Anne Rice and carry a major torch for you, Slayer.”

Drusilla glowered. “That’s fortunate lover, because I’m not actually insane. I actually have my soul; I’m just not a very nice person. I fake all that clairvoyance stuff.”

Oz looked up from his conversation as attention turned to him. “Me now? Okay. Oh, by the way, I ran into Cordelia outside. She can’t make it back to the meeting. Anyway. I’m a street drug vendor. I have a weakness for redheads—” he smiled at Willow, “—but I’m actually a serial killer. My favorite targets are dark-haired teenage girls.”

Willow shrugged and added her two cents to the pot. “Xander, I’ve been lying to you all your life. I’m actually a powerful, immortal, telepathic, magical vampire. This meek little schoolgirl thing is just an act. And, Buffy, Angel and I are nursing an affair behind your back.”

It was Buffy’s turn to speak, and all eyes were on her. But before she could open her mouth, the library door swung inwards and Joyce stuck her head in. “Mr. Giles? I’m afraid I need to steal my daughter. Am I interrupting anything?” she asked, looking around at the sundry guests.

“Oh. Allow me to join in. I’m a closet necrophiliac, not to mention an alcoholic. Hank isn’t actually Buffy’s father; in fact I’m not really sure who is. Oh, and I’m a lawyer,” she called as she led Buffy away.

Speechless, eyes nearly popping out of her head and mouth open in silent question, Buffy stared beseechingly at her circle of friends until the door swung shut behind her.

Xander broke the silence. “Well, that was certainly a productive session,” he said pleasantly.

Willow nodded. “I agree. It actually feels good to be so open and honest with you guys.” She looked around. “Did Buffy say something about refreshments?”

Oz pointed to a table near the doors, which was laden with a variety of goodies for mortals and immortals alike. “I know I, for one, will never view you guys in the same light again.”

Angel was still staring at Spike. “Anne Rice?“ he said incredulously. Spike shrugged.
