lj was down last night when i got back from ax and the skin concert. i couldn't post my babbly squee. ;-;

so here is what i posted on the gaia forums:

I JUST CAME BACK FROM ANIME EXPO AND SAW THE SKIN CONCERT!

They are SO amazing! Gackt is lead singer, with Yoshiki on drums and Miyavi and Sugizo both playing guitar. They pulled in Ju-ken as their bassist, he's Gackt's bassist and knows him and has worked with him.

I have no words to describe how PERFECT everything was. The music rocked hard. And Miyavi is such an attention-grabber, even with Gackt gyrating and singing in the center of the stage. The most beautiful moment was when Yoshiki was featured playing a clear piano (just like X-Japan!) and played a solo... AND THEN GACKT WAS ON A BLACK PIANO OPPOSITE HIM and they played together! ♥ Then Sugizo started on violin, and Miyavi was playing the koto (I think it was a koto). It was quiet and harmonized and beautiful, then they all started playing their own thing, in their own styles, and it was still beautiful. T_T ♥

I nearly passed out from seeing them.

And then they all trashed their instruments at the end, and Yoshiki drop kicked his drum kit. XD

i will post more later but right now i'm still exhausted and half-dead, my hearing is iffy, my throat is raw and my feet still hurt.

and the neighbors are doing construction.

By all reports I've heard, Miyavi was actually playing a shamisen. So much love. Thanks you for sharing your experience. If you add more details later, I will thank you even more. <3

ah. there we go. shamisen. i knew it wasn't actually a koto but it was late and didn't remember the name.

Understandable anyway, since so many tend to refer to any stringed japanese instrument as a koto. ^_^ But shamisen is a hand-held instrument, whereas a koto is a huge sucker...

yeah. the only band that i know that actually has someone play the koto is kagrra. still, miyavi was sexy playing the shamisen, too.
