Here's the first food review, for pie, since I just had another slice. ♥

Mrs. Smith's Cinnabon Apple Crumb Pie

I'll have to admit that I bought this brand of frozen pie because I saw the big Cinnabon stamp on the front of it. I mean, a tasty apple pie AND Cinnabon frosting? That's like a match made in heaven. This is certainly a product I'm willing to buy when I see it in the freezer section and have a hankering for pie. ♥

Preparation consists pretty much of pre-heating the oven, taking the pie out of the box and plastic, and baking for an hour. No, really. ^^ A+++ I really liked the crumb top, which you should loosen with a fork, but that's not too hard. There's also the package of Cinnabon frosting, which you leave out while the pie bakes, so it gets warm and melty-oozing. Pop the pie out of the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes, and then you're ready to go!

With the frosting itself, the box suggests that you drizzle the topping on each slice, or over the whole pie if it will be devoured in one sitting. The frosting will also keep for 5 days in the fridge, if you go slice by slice. I've made this pie more than once, and I think I like the results from drizzling individual slices more than the whole pie. It gives you a chance to control how much frosting you want on your slice of pie, and if you cover the whole pie with the frosting and don't eat it all, it kinda gets sketchy (kinda mushy in the crust but still edible) if you leave the pie on the counter overnight. Also, if you don't let the frosting warm up enough, it will come out of the package in blobs instead of a drizzle, like putting a dollop of Cool Whip on top of the slice of pie instead of pretty stripes.

>_>;; I like the glob method. But I also like a lot of frosting. ♥

The pie is your general apple pie, best when it is still warm from the oven, but it passes the next-day test. For some reason, I like the crust alot; it's very nice and crumbly and makes a good contrast to the sweetness of the apple filling. The pie alone isn't overly sweet, which is nice (despite my sweet tooth, when it comes to baked good I don't like punch-you-in-the-face-sweetness), but I think they did that on purpose. When you add the frosting to the pie, the sweetness factor goes WAY up, so if the pie was sweet on its own, adding the frosting would be like asking for sugar shock. And... hehehehe... if you eat all the apple filling and have crust and pie shell on your plate, the frosting is awesome with it. ^^ No leftovers!

THE FINAL DECISION:

This is a very good pie, especially with the frosting. I like the ease of preparation, and the pie can feed a family or you can hog it all for yourself. Heheheh. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this if it was just a basic apple pie, but with the Cinnabon frosting, it's a twist on a traditional dessert. ♥
