... I haven't even had that phone interview yet, and my parents are already starting in on their second life goal for me. My dad sat next to me while I was gnawing on some fried chicken and asked me: "When are you giving me apo (grandchildren)?"

I am quite appalled and disgusted and I want to stab something. This after both my parents know that I've had terrible luck with guys and 3/5ths of the guys I HAVE been interested in turned into stalkers. No lie. I'm glad I have caller ID on my cellphone, because I have to screen my calls. Still. And the other 2/5ths are absolute losers.

I'm going to have myself a nice milk chocolate chip cookie and read some porn now.

... I think I might be lucky. My parents are in no hurry to give either Umi or I that pressure.

I dunno... threaten him with a nursing home in his old age?

Nah, I think Daddy still wants to retire in the Philippines. That might be worse than a nursing home, depending.

*blinkblink* I can't argue. Nominally, this is because I've never been and don't know, but I'll maintain my position that ignorance is bliss.

What about a nursing home in the Philippines? That sounds like a threat equivalent to a Mexican prison, somehow...

What do they do with old people over there, then??

...

Wait a minute. They send them here, don't they?

Typically, since the Philippines is very family-oriented, elders are cared for by the family. And if they're sick they go to the hospital. And then they die. Funerals are traditional and very long.

Alas, that would get me disowned, and I didn't live with my parents this long to not get something when they die. XP

Tell him that your children are all the stories that you wrote. : -).

That's what I'm telling my mother next time she asks. But at 40+, I think she should have figured out by now, that the husband and I aren't having grandchildren for her. Not with all the drugs we're on now. She's got my sister's 2 to spoil.

I dont know why she thought that I was going to be the one to produce the blond, blue eyed, aryan youth that she was looking for.

... my parents don't actually know I write. I keep them ignorant of my online habits, as they are generally disapproving of anything in my life that doesn't pertain to getting a job, getting married, and having kids.

... and could your genes even actually produce that aryan youth? I know mine can't. Even if I marry a cousin.

It would be a longshot. I have the recessives for the blondness. The husband and I have the recessives for blue eyes and red hair. Odds were we might be able to. However, we are not having children.

My mother doesnt know a lot about my online life. She's gotten hints that I write. My father doesn't know. They've been separated for decades.

Both of them were just happy I married a guy.

You know, I can send pictures of potential guys to you. Guys I know that are single. You're parents will stop bugging you if you start making noises with them. I think that they are all old enough to be your father.

.............. them being old enough to be my father might make them happy. They're already tried to arrange a marriage for me. To a cousin.
