... not that this relates to anything I may or may not be writing or anything, but what song do you think has been the most overused and abused in the GW fandom? I'm talking songfics, the song somehow incorporated into the fic, the GBoyz singing it, and what-have-you. Just ANY song that you have seen come up or been referenced to over-and-over-and-over in fics.

I, personally, want to say that it's either "I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden or "Don't Fear the Reaper" by Blue Oyster Cult.

If you had asked me three years ago, I could probably have answered this. The authors I read now rarely seem to write songfics. I'm totally blanking. Sorry!

Well, songfics are a much-maligned part of the fandom. And for good reason since alot of them tend to suck. ^^;;

No songs coming to mind at all? Not even "Closer" from Nine Inch Nails or anything?

I tend to remember the ones I like more than the ones I don't. Plus, the further I've gotten away from reading off mailing lists, the less bad fic I've been exposed to. ^__________^

I generally avoid song fics without hesitation, so cannot say. The only songfics I read (and write) are those which will use the song lyrics as a sort of guideline for the overall story -- like Blue's Falling Sideways, or my Bad Desire. And both of those songs wouldn't have been popular for song fics anyway! *grin*

*nods* I know what you mean. I've used songs as references or the inspiration for fics (Meant For Me was one), but I've also written regular songfics with lyrics between paragraphs and everything.
