You know what?

I had a PLAN for this evening.

I was going to come home from Bar Bri, check my e-mail for abit, take a nap, wake up from that nap, have my BBQ leftovers for dinner, then nicely relax online by spamming LJ, anonymously heckling at CFUD, dabbling on Gaia, and writing some nice panty!Heero fic for [livejournal.com profile] ponderosa121 and [livejournal.com profile] merith.

I made it to the BBQ dinner before everything went to hell.

AOL has been acting bitchy (don't say anything, I know, I know, AOL suxx0rs, but I'm not paying for it XP) because I'm running AOL 8.0. I downgraded to 8.0 after that whole debacle with 9.0SE totally killing the WIndows firewalls and stuff like that. Hell, even the AOL people said to switch BACK to a more stable version. So I did. And AOL 8.0 works quite well, thanks. Anyway, after awhile, updates and stuff start automatically downloading to older versions of AOL, to try and get it caught up to the newest version. Usually when a download like that finishes, my AOL freezes up and I get kicked offline and have to restart AOL. Not too bad.

But I've been freezing and have to restart at least ONCE every HOUR. I was getting pissed off. And when AOL freezes and I'm running a bunch of other stuff (like AIM, Firefox, etc.) then my Solo is liable to freeze up, too, because of the memory demand. x___X Solo froze TWICE last night and I had to shut off and restart.

Tonight, I finally snapped after being dropped practically whenever I wanted to heckle comment in a meaningful fashion. I dug out my copy of 9.0 Optimized (that I stole appropriated from [livejournal.com profile] _faolan_ and finally installed it. And I switched my dial up numbers, too.

Hopefully this fixes everything... at least for a bit. I think I'll still take a stab at the panty!Heero, since getting pissy raises my blood pressure and wakes me up.

Bar review was bleh. It was Corporations review today, which was originally a 2 day lecture that they managed to condense into 1 day. Needless to say, we went a bit overtime, and the material was DENSE. We were practically dying. But! Today was the last day of substantive lecture. Tomorrow is the last Essay Workshop and Friday is the last Performance Test Workshop, and that's it. The following time until the Bar Exam is for us to continue to study and review on our own (and follow the paced program).

Anyway, I'm not sure that I'm gonna go in for the last two classes. It's going to be a review of the Practice Essay/Performance Exam (going over the essays and performance part that was done), which I haven't actually TAKEN yet. See, the Practice was held last Saturday... you know? Last Saturday when I thought I was dying of bronchitis and drugged on codeine?

Yeah.

I think I might stay at home (and save my bus fare) and study on my own, and possibly do the Practice myself. I have it afterall, it's in my Workbook. That would be a better use of my time (and no crowded busses!) than going to the review without any of the work and just being bored. I also talked to R-san, who WENT to the Practice, and he told me way less than HALF of the people actually showed up to take it. That makes me feel a bit better (though maybe they just took it at home).

Bleh.

If I stay home tomorrow, I will actually have breakfast in the morning. Maybe I will break into my nice new box of Triple Berry cereal (with milk!). Or maybe... I will even COOK. Like... eggs! And sausage! And do domestic things like laudry and dishes to procrastinate on studying.

I was stuck with AOhelL for a while back when I had dial-up. To keep it from leeching all my comp's memory, I ran version 2 (stable with next to no graphics) just for the connection, then did all my internet stuff in an independant browser.

See, I wait until practically the last moment before upgrading because of the fact that AOL leeches so much memory. I would TOTALLY be running 2.0 or something if it weren't for that automatic update problem. The older version just keeps automatically updating (I don't think you can stop it) and freezing and kicking me off, and then I get fed up and upgrade.

I mean, I use IE and Firefox for my websurfing most of the time anyway. And I run AIM because it's cooler than using the AOL IMs.

Oh now that's just evil. Any chance that you can switch to a different service?
