So, Best Buy called.

Apparently, they say, besides the viruses and spyware and such, the problem with my modems is probably my motherboard dying. They say that they would have to ship my laptop to the dealer to fix. That will take two weeks and around $250. *flails* TWO WEEKS? $250?! I don't have that time OR money!

they SAY your motherboard's dying. I wouldn't be so sure. That's usually one of those cop-out things they say when they don't know what the problem is.

It COULD be the motherboard, don't get me wrong...but at least you know if I tell you that, it'll be the truth.

There's also the idea that it's something far simpler but for which they would not get as much money as they'd like.
