No more Solo. T__T He's in for a diagnostic check up thinger and I'll get a call back in two days about what the problems are and if I actually want them to fix Solo or not. The computer guy said that one of the problems I had was that I had a bunch of viruses and spyware on Solo. *growls* I run Ad Aware and Spybot! Why the hell do I keep picking up these things? And I have PC-Cillin and McAfee. Well, the McAfee is new from AOL and I haven't run it yet. >_<;; Now I'm REALLY going to have to be sure to keep up to date on that sort or stuff. And here I thought I was doing a good job!

;__;

I'm hoping that it's only the viruses or whatever that are mucking Solo up. *hopehopes*

But in other news, I found some new computers and stuff and they were on sale. I need to tell my mom. There was even one that was only about $250 after all the rebates and things. My mom can't say no to that. But it's an eMachine brand, and I don't know how good those kinds of computers are. I already told her not to call up Dell or anything. XD

*sighs* And tomorrow I really need to buckle down and shop for presents. I have no idea what I'm going to get everyone. Asuka and Louise already have pressies, I just need to find boxes and mail them out. I need addresses, you two! But everyone else...? >_O;; I really should stop letting things wait until the last minute. Oh well.

Ick... and now my mom wants to drag me to church every night this week. *stabs self in head* I don't wanna go! I'm already gonna have to attend freakin' Midnight Mass and crap. I don't want to go to church for a FULL WEEK before that. I shall have to make sure my shopping excursions run late. *nodnods*

I have an eMachine compy and I really like it. Haven't had any problems with it, except for the stuff I did myself (spyware, etc.). What I've really liked so far about it is how easy it is to add stuff to it. We put in a DVD drive, and it took maybe twenty minutes. Dunno if that's the sort of thing you were looking for :)

*nods* Well, I just want something easy for my parents to use and all. Mostly my mom because she's the one who does email and uses the comp for her work things. We don't need a state of the art comp, just something NEW.

ooo! *pimps job* tell her to check out hpshopping.com (or you can check it out for her), you can customize the specs to your specifications and everything! And any of us at the sales center are willing to walk you through the process or even put the orders through for you. We'll make sure you get everything you need and nothing you don't.

I'm not just saying that because I work there, it's actually a great site, AND it's seriously the only American retailer with 20GB iPODs left in the country!

... ooh wow. You're so very helpful. O_O *amazed* I was considering an HP or Compaq compy for the new one, too. I'd prefer a Sony, but that's just because I'm Sony's bitch. XD

:D It helps that I've owned an HP that has done me well for the last two and a half years, as well as now working for them through said website.

AND I can gaurentee a 30 day no hassle returns/exchange policy (and no restocking fees or return shipping fees, if anything goes wrong, just call the sales center for customer service and we'll be able to help you out) AND that everybody that works there knows basically everything that you need to know about hp computers
:D:D:D:DXDXDXD

Just to give you a bit more info.

ooo and if you do call in, even if it's just to check stuff out (toll free 1-888-999-4747 be careful not to dial 1-800 because that will get you a sex line........... imagine how amusing that is for me :P), get the agents first and last name coz if I know them, I'll squee and stuff!

EMachines are pretty crappy... flimsy parts and all that. t3h T3chie can give you a better rundown on that than I can; he ended up basically building me a new one after just about everything in the comp started to die. About the only original thing is the CDRW drive, which is crapping out and needs desperately to be replaced.

they're not as bad as they once were, but i would never recommend anyone buy an eMachine desktop.

Seconded on the HP thing. We're an HP/Compaq house at work and the machines are built solidly.

heh, Sera, there isn't an altar boy's chance in a confessional booth that they'll fix Solo correctly. They will charge you an arm, a leg, various other very dear body parts, and return him half-fixed. Because there is enough ambiguity in computer repair it's hard to argue what was broken when it got there vs. what was broken after it got there..

i've seriously had climactic BATTLES with fucking best buy over their shitty techs. solo's in a very dangerous place right now, and even if they give it back after 'diagnostics', i'll probably have even more work to do because of the best buy bastards.

Well, I don't mind waiting to see what their diagnosis is. If it's WAY too expensive or something, I know I can count on you, right? I'll even not buy you a tie for Xmas. *puppy eyes*

Right now I have no idea what's going on, and I know you can do supercool amazing things or something. I just want Solo to be fixed and be able to wallow on the internet with him again.

not so much the expense of the labor as the fact that I know they won't fix it correctly, and may break it worse.

Good luck with Solo. I hope he has better luck than the guy he's named after. ^_^

... have just realized that Solo is suffering from a virus. Aahh, the irony. .___.;; If Solo dies... I'll have to get a new laptop and name it Duo. XP
