My FMA disks from [livejournal.com profile] kodalai came in the mail today... AND I CAN'T WATCH THEM! Real Player keeps telling me some files aren't supported. *sobs* I managed to watch a little, but I don't want to skip episodes because dammit if FMA NEVER has filler episodes (except for Flame vs. Fullmetal, which had plotness at the end, and Roy-angst).

So now here I am, trying to download updates and codecs on my dial up connection for Windows Media Player AND Real Player... and I'm trying to decide if I should do it for Quick Time and WinRAR, too, just so I have back up media players with which to watch things.

*weeps bitter tears*

*sequesters self to unpack and organize stuff while downloads chug along*

Have you tried DivX player? They have a free one on their website and, so far, I've not had many problems playing anything with it. And, if I remember correctly, it was a quick download. *has 56k, so knows the pains of slow downloads.*

I LOVE you! *molests* I got the newest version of Divx and was able to play EVERYTHING on it. I also updated a bunch of other stuff, too... but the Divx saved my sanity.

*Happy squeee* No problem! It's a good backup player to have, since, so far, it does seem to play everything.

..almost tempts me to.. like think about paying to get the other version. ...or something. XD

There are some episodes in there that we have to watch using VLC. It's a free download, you should be able to find it if you search.

Downloaded that and needed it only for one episode, I think. Divx played everything else. >_<;; The Real update gave me fits and so I gave up on it.

There's always Windows Media Player Classic, the freeware that plays everything: DVDs, Quicktime, RealPlayer stuff... the works.
