Went.

*beats down terrible traumatic memories* The dentist said it would take 30 minutes if the cap fit. Obviously, it didn't because I spent over and hour in the chair. But, I lot of that was me having to wait because I got shot up with novocaine. Or whatever it was. Didn't help much because I could still feel what he was doing and it HURT when he tested by blowing air over my tooth. So he shot me up again with something stronger, which I think is still working because the left side of my cheek still feels all swollen and blah.

Anyway now I have a nice new silver cap in the back of my mouth and because it is metal, I shall remain forever sensitive to hot and cold things. >_<;; Not that I wasn't already but still!

And he wants to see me again in six months or so. *grumble*





You know what?

I really hate going to family parties. It's expected of me and I always have to go but that doesn't mean I like them any better. This was my cousin Herson's 17th birthday, but Herbet (Herson's older brother) has just graduated high school, and I haven't seen Aiko (little sister) who is my first goddaughter in ages.

And this is my dad's side of the family (my mom;s side of the family occupies the Bay Area), and they all haven't seen me in FOREVER. So I had to chitchat and be polite and everything and endure the questioning. In Filipino. All in Filipino. And answer numerous times that I can understand Filipino but not speak it.

The top three questions I got asked?

1) How many more years of school do you have left?
2) Do you have a boyfriend yet?
3) Why don't you have a boyfriend?

*stabination*

It's because I'm 24. By this age, I should be married and have kids already according to Filipino standards. The fact that I don't is disconcerting, especially since I never bring boyfriends to parties either.

x___X Goddamn. Nothing like a family party to make me feel like I'm valued for only my reproductive system.

The only saving graces were the food (mmm... barbeque and lumpia) and the television, where I was able to tune out everyone while watching The Filipino CHannel and the cheesy, stupid variety shows and movies they show. Okay, scratch that. The only good thing was the food.

And then my dad drank alot, so I had to drive back home (it's normally a 3-hour drive) at NIGHT. And he wouldn't stop being a backseat driver the whole damn time, except for a stretch where he fell asleep.

I loathe my father sometimes.



And so... I leave here on the 18th to go back up to SF. School starts on the 23rd and I know I'll have to clean and go grocery shopping and everything first.
