Look at me! It didn't rain AAAAAALLLLLL day, so I went out! Finally! And I even got Zhu and Samirah to come with me to the tailors! And I bought a ring for my mom and I got a ticket for 12 Girl's Band tomorrow night!

*dances*

... of course, this all cost a WHOLE LOT OF MONEY.

*flinches badly*

So I managed to catch hold of Samirah and Zhu at breakfast this morning. Bwahaha. I told them about getting fitted for suits and they were interested, but they were going to the school to research for their papers. *cough* We shall not talk about the non-work I have been doing on my own papers. XP We agreed to meet at Soi 11 -- the street the tailors is on -- at 6pm, so that left me with a whole day to fritter at will.

The first thing I did was FINALLY go over to Silom and the Silom Village there. I had a nifty brochure that advertised the place, so I decided to have a look-see. Plus, it's near Patpong, but Patpong doesn't get going until after 6pm. But I looked down the street and it wasn't that impressive. I guess it's different at night, when everything is going.

Walking down Silom Road to Silom Village -- very very long walk in the early afternoon -- I bought this nice lamp with a dragon design. It will be a bitch to pack since it's square and delicate, but I'm glad I finally found one with that design! The only one I've seen like that was at the Floating Market andI'm certainly not going to go THAT far just for a lamp.

At Silom Village, I bought my mom a rather nice emerald ring, which is her birthstone. It's .25 carats in 18 karat gold, and I managed to get 1000 baht knocked off the price, so my total was 5500 baht. *flinch* Still pricey, and the design of the ring is very simple, but it's okay. My mom better like it! She knows that I'm not rich!

Oh! And while I was there, I got a very lovely facial for 500 baht. *bounces* It made my skin feel very good and it lasted an hour and I even got an arm/hand massage and leg/foot massage with it! Also my shoulders and neck! *beams* I am very happy! And tea afterwards. With peanut butter crackers. :3

So... total damage for this part of the day: 6270 baht. I bought a bottle of water, too, because I was dying of thirst.

Walked all the way BACK the way I came from to the Skytrain Station (was very heavily considering a taxi), but the tea and crackers fortified me, and I made it back without buying anything else. Well, except for lunch at KFC which is, by the way, much better than the KFC back home. The chicken isn't greasy at all. I like it.

KFC Lunch: 85 baht.

Then, back up the the Skytrain Station, where I had to buy a new rail pass, because I used up my first pass up. XP

30 Trip Skytrain Pass: 540 baht.

Well, since it was on the way, I stopped at Chit Lom Station and went to the Central Store (big huge department store thing with 7 floors), because Thai Ticketmaster has an outlet there. That, and I needed to pee, and the best place to find Western style toilets is to go to a big department store. ^^;

Anyway, I lined up to ask about the tickets (3000, 2000, 1000, 800 baht), only to find out that Tuesday's performance (the one I wanted to go to and which has the cheapest tickets available) was all sold out! Only seats for Monday were available, and they were all either 3000 or 2000 baht. I backed off and had to think long and hard about it. Finally, I realized I had my credit card with me (as I barely had enough for a 1000 baht ticket on me after my spree at Silom), and this is like a once in a lifetime opportunity and I didn't want to kick myself over not going. I queued up again and bought a 2000-baht ticket... seat 52. X3 And -- surprise surprise! -- there was some sort of 30% discount! So I only paid 1400 for my seat!

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!

I was most pleased.

12 Girls Band Live in Bangkok Ticket: 1400 baht.

This accomplished, I jaunted off back to the Skytrain and Nana Station. It was only about 5 pm, so I killed the hour by wandering the streets and ending up at an Asia Bookstore and sat reading a magazine in the nice air-conditioning. XD Then I went back to Soi 11 and met Samirah and Zhu bying pineapples from a street vendor. ^^

We went to the tailor I had been scoping out yesterday, and the guys there were actually quite nice. Samirah has pointed out to me that they want our money, so of course they're nice, but that's beside the point. I was pretty pleased with the selection and got measured for suits and shirts, while Samirah and Zhu are going to come back. Samirah already picked her cloth, but she felt ill because she had drank so much coffee earlier. XP

I'm getting 3 suits made up, 2 with pants and 1 with a dress (suit jacket goes over). Also got 2 shirts tailored for me, and I get 3 scarves. The price is $600, which is WAY more than I wanted to spend, but that's because I picked very fine quality fabrics. Two are 100% cashmere (black and charcoal), the other is this dark blue with pinstripes and it's a fine wool blend. Ah, and [livejournal.com profile] kodalai? This is the Place 2 that I went to. I didn't bring up the advertisment of suits, because we (Samirah, Zhu and I) were pretty sure that THOSE suits would be of cheaper fabric. I'm willing to spend more for higher quality, and I will be wearing these suits forever. XP All my other suits have cost almost $200 each, and they don't fit as well as these ones will.

One suit is just a classic suit with pants, one is with a dress (knee-length and proper, of course), and the last (the black) is going to have a long European-length jacket. I love suits with long jackets... they make me look taller. ^^;;

I, of course, need to call my parents (read: mother) to inform them (read: her) of the charges that will be put on my credit card. That and wish my dad Happy Father's Day. ^^; I know that if I tell my mom that I'm getting suits made up, she won't be angry... I told her I wanted to get suits already.

So we spent about 2 hours at the tailors, got back on the Skytrain, then stopped at the Emporium to pick up dinner. I had a tasty chicken caesar wrp with waffle fries and a Sprite.

Dinner: 140 baht.

... so that was my day. I've got class tomorrow and then the 12 Girls Band Concert in the evening (doors open at 7pm, starts at 8). And Wednesday I go back to the tailors for my first fitting. :3

I must remember to charge my batteries for my camera!

And I'm quite afraid to total up today's spendings. Needless to say, I'm not going anywhere NEAR a shopping area for a bit... unless I need food.

EDIT...

Just finished calling the parents. Heh. My mom said that if the suits are good quality, I should get another 3 made. And I can charge it. XP We'll see how it goes.
