Re: This Semester

TPTB --

Please don't let me get anything lower than a 'C' this semester. A C- is still a 'C'. I don't think my poor nerves could take anything lower than that, and I KNOW my GPA can't. I'd ask for a 'B', but I don't want to push my luck. Let me have my barely above a 2.0 GPA and I will be happy. I will even cry tears of joy, rather than weeping bitter tears of disappointment.

And don't fuck with my financial aid. I'm watching you guys this time.

Thank you.

And gacked from my friends list, but notably [livejournal.com profile] suzume_sparrow...

"The American Family Association has decided to try and "prove a point" by having a poll on their website for folks to take about their opinion on gay marriage. They intend to present the results of this poll to the United States Congress in an attempt to instate a federal law against Gay Marriage.

It's obvious that they think that this poll will come out in their favor, and that the vast majority of people will vote to keep marriage for traditional couples only. However, this is LiveJournal, and we are FAR from traditional!

I ask you all to please visit
http://www.afa.net/petitions/marriagepoll.asp and let your opinion be heard. It takes about 45 seconds, and it is SUCH an important topic. Whether you are gay or straight, conservative or liberal, your opinion matters, and you NEED to vote here.

While it's obvious that I am on the "pro gay marriage" side of the fence, I still want you to vote if you are against it. The point here is to have a LEGITIMATE cross section of people voting in this poll. The only folks who were even made aware of its existence were the people on the AFA's mailing list and the people who happened to wander across their website. They have absolutely every intention of presenting this poll in the form of a petition to congress against gay marriage. I wonder if they will still present it when the YAYs outweigh the NAYs?

PLEASE let your voice be heard.

What a farce of a poll. Since the only people who visit the website are people who agree with them anyway, I'm amazed that we got even 10% disagreement. It's no more representative than if I took a poll at, say, GWA, and claimed it reflected the wishes of all of America.

I'd put it in my LJ, except nobody would see it who's not already on your friends list.

Are you saying that in every comment? I swear I saw this in Suzume's LJ. XP

Oh well, I won't blame you for not having original commentary. I can't remember Property. I should study more, ne?

*pets your brain*

You can tell everyone that I'm probably going to die after this final. That means sleep so I don't cry like a little girl.

I would, except that I'm going to be studying till my brain bleeds until I get out of work, then showering, eating dinner, and going down to my own exam. And when I get back from THAT I won't do anything but A) study for my next exam or B) sleep.

Is it just my imagination, or have the numbers changed? *blinks* This morning when I took the poll it gave about 10,000 voted "for," and 10%. Now it's twice that number of votes, and 15%.

Weird.

Either that or, wow. That changed fast.

I'm not America, but this is definately going in my LJ. I know a couple of Americans who'll want to vote.

Pity we can't put it out over the Mailing Lists.
