Nov. 11th, 2003 04:56 pmProperty Law (specifically Real Estate and Title Insurance) destroys my soul.
Right.
On to Criminal Procedure. And Line Ups (Pre-Trial Identification Procedures).
... why can't I be reading about porn in Constitutional Law instead? At least we're studying obscenity and pornography in relation to Free Speech there.
On an aside:
Silly pornographers! Don't you know that everyone in your videos are supposed to be over 18? While it may be profitable to have videos dedicated to showing young boys masturbating, they have to be 18!
Tsssssssk.

Date: 2003-11-12 12:15 am (UTC)1) i'm avoiding property like the plague, tho everyone keeps telling me to take trusts next year... 9_9 or wills and succession...
2) ah~ porn and law~ makes my life worth living. ^O^ some of the cases are quite graphic! speaking of graphic, i must now proceed to share the most traumatizing crim case ever:
R. v. Golden (illegal search and seizure)
the police see some suspicious activity in a Subway sandwich shop and, believing that the suspects are trafficking in cocaine, charge in to arrest them. the police take a suspect to the back hall and have him remove his pants and underwear. an officer sees "a clear plastic wrap protruding from between the appellant's buttocks, as well as white substance within the wrap." because there wasn't enough room at the back, they decide to conduct the search in the back-most booth of the shop! they bent him over the table, his pants and underwear around his ankles, and one of the officers tries to "seize the package from the man's buttocks, but was unsuccessful, given that the man was 'clenching' very tightly." he *defecates* on the officer. the officer goes to get dishwashing gloves from an employee. the man is now face down on the floor with an officer hanging on to his feet. other officers instruct the man to "let it go" and "relax" and finally the package was removed "once the man unclenched his muscles."
^O^;;;; now i can't eat in subway booths... ^O^;;; i was just overly entertained by the wording of the case. sorry for spamming your lj! just needed to share that case~ ^O^;;;

2) ... I'm still wondering WHY those police officers didn't just haul the guy to the station. They had probable cause to make a public arrest.
I still like my porn cases though. Too bad we're moving on from this section during the next class.
And I never eat at Subway.
