windandwater*kicks the hell out of financial aid*
I got an e-mail over the weekend saying that my "term registration [was] in jeopardy." WTF?! I freaked out wholesale, tossed off an e-mail(it was on Friday) and made plans to visit the Financial Aid office today. Well, I did.
It turns out that while I got my Stafford loan money (yay for the government!) the money from my private electronic loan didn't go through. Freakin' hell. Of course, this was partly my fault, because I thought the private electronic loans were the school loans, which they AREN'T. What peeves me is that I didn't get ONE DAMN LETTER or e-mail or phone call or anything previous to this, saying that my financial aid wasn't paying for everything fully. You'd think I'd get some advance warning before they start chucking "jeopardy" e-mails at me. I damn near had a heart attack.
Anyway, I just spent the last HOUR wrestling with the Access Group loan website and applied for the private loan I need. My god, I hope I didn't fuck up on that. The loan's for almost $20,000 (more than half of which is for tuition and law purposes). The rest of the money is what I live on for the whole year.
... don't look at me like that. All law students (except for the very wealthy ones) go to law school under really heavy loans. That's why we become lawyers. If we weren't lawyers, we'd never be able to pay the amount back in the first place.
I really hope I got the term numbers right, because if I didn't, I think I'll be screwed. I made it for the whole school year term, rather than the semester term. So, either I'll get a HUGE check back from the school, or the school will break the payment up into two equal parts.
*groans*
And I haven't eaten lunch yet. I had a chocolate bar though, which I'm very glad I remembered to chuck in my backpack.
... class is at 3. I have two hours. I think I'll grab something right quick, but leave my stuff in the carrel. That way, I don't lose my semi-good place in the library. I don't spend that much time eating anyway.
