It's freaking cold here. I wish it would just rain already! At least then I would know what to wear!

Also, if you haven't already heard about the anti-war rallies that occured over the weekend, you really need to start watching the news. Or reading a newspaper or something. There was tons of people crowding up the BART. Didn't effect me much, since I decided to stay home. It's not fun to go to a political rally if you're not going with your friends. ^^

Also, if SF weren't messed up enough, the Raiders made it to the SuperBowl. And yes, the people in Oakland burned things in celebration... *shakes head* And what makes it better (?) is that the Raiders came out of L.A., so they've got Southern AND Northern California rooting for them.

I also happened to get my Headline News fix (yay CNN!) and got the latest news regarding Roe v. Wade. Considering the split in the Supreme Court, and the fact that the Republicans hold the Congress and the Presidency, we could be looking at the landmark case being overturned. If you know me at all, you'll know this makes me mightily pissed. It's almost like overturning something like Brown v. Board of Education... oops, I forgot, the President is speaking out against that, too.

Oh, and just to make you even MORE paranoid and in fear of where this country is going, here's some info on North Korea rejecting the UN resolution, and here's how Powell is standing on the issue of Iraq.

God, I'm such a news whore. Feels good though, especially since this is my area of expertise. ^^;;

>_<

I hadn't even thought of that! they'd better not over turn that if they know what's good for them.

It very easy to protest, it's much harder to solve the actual problems and offer alternative solutions. That was sorely lacking in everything that I watched and read about. No one had an answer.

Well, considering that if there were any logical answers, people would stop killing each other... *sigh* Anyway, protest brings up a legitimate point, at least... while there are no answers, people are willing to support what they don't want as an answer. It would be a much darker place if people weren't allowed to speak their minds (just look at the former Soviet Union).

Oh, I didn't mean they shouldn't protest, I just wish someone would come up with a coherent alternative. It seems that way too many people are using the protests as a platform for their own agendas. It's easy to scream don't go to war, but what else should we do? The major theme seemed to be, do nothing and that it was all about oil. I was kind of shocked by that. Korea is starving its people to death and Saddam is lining up people in the streets and murdering them. These people are in military regimes and can't help themselves. If someone could propose a peaceful solution to save them from their situations, I think everyone would be willing to hear it and respond. We've talked and we've sanctioned and we've condemned for over ten years and none of it has worked. If someone has an idea as to what to do, they should use this time, when so many people are gathered together against war, to propose it and solidify everyone for it. Instead, this chance, it seems to me, is being squadered by people who only want to rant and push their own agendas; agendas that have nothing to do with the situation they are supposedly marching against.

Sorry, I didn't mean to get political on you, but I really think there is power in organization and a coherent solution to what is being protested against. You can say, war is wrong and we shouldn't do it, and everyone will say, "No, duh!" yet continue on their course because they don't see an alternative.

Actually, my bus drove by a rally on Friday. Corner of Sunset and Hollywood. People and pickets on every corner. I almost got off the bus to join them. Looked like fun. Plus, if that's the same group that's at my campus, there's a really cute guy who's a member and was probably there. ^_^

And the idea of Roe v. Wade being overturned almost makes me want to go into medicine. That way I could lose my liscence by doing abortions which would probably save a few lives. Scared kids coming to me instead of some dirty nitwit with a coathanger. Personally, I don't think any man is in a position to tell a woman she can or cannot abort. It's between her and her conscience.
