"Do you know what power is, Heero-kun?"

"Power? It is unneccessary. Power creates a false barrier between the strong and the weak. It creates conflict, where everyone tries to obtain power to protect themselves from those who are stronger. Power only brings pain."

"Do you really believe that?"

"Yes."

"But what about real power? Magic? The threads of power that sing through your veins and make you feel alive?"

"I don't believe in magic."

"Oh? Was there ever a time when you wondered why you were alive? Did strange things ever happen to you? Were you ever in an accident or dangerous situation where you wondered why you weren't dead? Haven't you ever wondered why, time after time, you just could not *DIE*... even if you wanted to? Have you ever felt that way? Has that ever happened to you, Heero-kun?"

Heero scowled. His childhood... his time with Odin Lowe... his training under Doctor J... jumping from the hospital... self-destructing Wing... blowing up the chunk of Libra...blowing up Mariemaia's base... there were so many times, so many opportunities for him to die. Hell, he had actively searched out his own demise on more than one occassion.

So why?

Why hadn't he died?

"See, Heero-kun?" Sakura's voice continued through the darkness. "This is our power. It surrounds us, protects us, keeps us safe until we do our part. It's a blessing. And a curse. Do you understand?"

Heero locked his Prussian eyes on Sakura's emerald.

"Tell me more about this power."
