Taking Advantage of the Situation
Nov. 12th, 2002 09:07 pmDuo sighed, letting gravity take over and pull him back until he was sprawled on the floor of the Common Room. Almost immediately numerous plotbunnies hopped their way to his prone form, cuddling up against him. One proud bunny hopped up, perched itself on his chest, then proceeded to groom itself. Duo raised one hand -- displacing some plotbunnies -- and fingered the bunny's collar, which was striped purple and dark blue and had a little star tag.
"What am I gonna do with you, huh?" Duo asked, idly petting the bunny's chocolate fur. "Heero's not here. Got that? I can't pull off the fic without him. And I don't know where the other guyz are. I think 'Fei's aggravating the Writer again. Gah! I must be going nuts, talking to the bunnies and all. You don't mind do you?"
The chocolate-furred bunny twitched its nose.
Duo smiled and sat up carefully, raising both his arms to cradle the bunny against his chest.
"Figures, doesn't it? The time the Writer gets the urge to write, and I can't work on any of my damn fics because Heero's always a part of 'em." Duo lifted the bunny up and looked into its black eyes. "Not that I don't mind him not being around. Maybe if he lets off enough steam at that *other* place, he won't go uberseme! over *here* so much. It would be nice to do some fluff and stuff, instead of the usual angst and drama. But that's not gonna happen, ne?"
Duo kissed the bunny on the top of the head, ruffling his fingers through its fur one last time before releasing it. The bunny sat on the floor -- almost indignantly -- and groomed itself again. The American smiled, looking around at the other bunnies that were around. He petted a few, some bit him if he tried to get close, and a few coughed up paper when touched them. Duo made sure to grab the ficbits and chucked them all together in one manila folder. The Writer could sort them out when she had the time. Pulling his knees up to his chest and wrapping his arms around them, Duo sighed again.
He was bored.
The chocolate bunny planted itself right in front of him.
They stared at each other.
"Hey hey hey... what's that look for, huh? I *told* you that I can't work on you right now."
The bunny raised itself onto its hind legs, forepaws tucked up against its chest. The deep black gaze focused somewhere behind Duo. Duo felt a shiver run down his spine and turned around slowly, half-afraid of what he might see.
There was nothing.
Duo released his tension in a harsh bark of laughter, and then patted the bunny's head. "Jeeze! You really scared me there!"
"Who are you talking to, Duo?"
The braided boy yelped, spinning around and clutching the bunny to his chest in a death grip. Then he blinked.
"HEERO?!"
The Japanese boy scowled, then flipped his hair away from his face. "No, baka. I'm Yuy. Will *everyone* here always confuse me with my counterpart?"
Duo shrugged, "Well, it's sorta hard to tell you two apart until you start talking. Though..." Duo ran his violet gaze across Yuy's outfit. The other boy was clad in a pair of khakis and a white button-down shirt. "... did you rob Winner's closet or something?"
Yuy giggled then sat himself down beside Duo. "Nope. I *was* trying to go for a new look. Can't be barefoot and pregnant all the time."
The two Muses laughed out loud, scaring some of the plotbunnies.
"Where *is* Max anyway?" Duo asked between chuckles.
Yuy smiled. "He's around somewhere."
"Huh... got you on a short leash?"
"Do you see me complaining?"
Duo laughed again. "I haven't yet. So what are you doing here anyway? I didn't get a heads up about it."
Yuy leaned back on his hands and lifted his Prussian eyes to Duo's violet. "Your Writer called me in. She thought I could help out a bit while Heero's away."
A slight frown creased across Duo's brow. "She wants to use you for bunnywork?"
The Japanese boy patted the bunny in Duo's arms. "Why not? I can handle the fluff and smarm better than Heero anyway."
"Hey!"
"Oh *please*," Yuy interrupted Duo. "Don't come to the defense of your boyfriend. You know it's true. Besides, I don't mind coming in to work. I'm just eye candy back at *my* Mansion."
Duo looked down at the bunny in his arms thoughtfully, watching as Yuy's long fingers stroked and petted the bunny. With a deep breath, Duo reached up with his free hand, tangling his own hand against Yuy's on the bunny's back. Duo looked up from their joined hands and into Yuy's deep blue eyes.
"Sure. I wouldn't mind working with you."
"What am I gonna do with you, huh?" Duo asked, idly petting the bunny's chocolate fur. "Heero's not here. Got that? I can't pull off the fic without him. And I don't know where the other guyz are. Date: 2002-11-12 09:46 pm (UTC)Trowa: Sure thing. So Heero's been hired as a waff stand-in?
Quatre: [nods] Like a stunt double. And being all waff-y would be a stunt for that Writer's Heero.
Trowa: Does this mean Heero has a job?
Quatre: ... I guess it does.
Trowa: Don't tell Duo.
Quatre: What, that Heero's employed and he's not? Don't worry, Duo's whitetrash!, remember? It won't faze him.
Trowa: True. Hey Quatre?
Quatre: Hm?
Trowa: Does it bother you to be "just eye candy"?
Quatre: Naw. We've got the run of the place, after all. And if we do want a fic, you know the Writer will oblige. Or we can even hop on over and bunny the other Writer.
Trowa: ...
Quatre: ... [grins]
