killing time...
Sep. 16th, 2002 03:17 pm... before i drown myself in case briefs...
gacked this from Black Rose
This is the list of Banned Books.
-- I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou (i love maya angelou)
-- The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain (didn't like the book, but pretty much a factualy account of the Southern-mindset towards slavery at the time)
-- Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck (sad. damn sad.)
-- Harry Potter (Series) by J.K. Rowling (HP!!! WAI!!!)
-- Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson (read this. don't know why people make such a damn fuss over it, unless it's because of the teenage suicide thing)
-- Goosebumps (Series) by R.L. Stine (admittedly, only the first couple of them. then i stopped)
-- The Color Purple by Alice Walker (i [heart] this book. it's one of the few that make me cry when i read it)
-- Earth’s Children (Series) by Jean M. Auel (actually, this is not the first porn i read. it's the *most* i ever read in one sitting, but it's not the first)
-- The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood (this book KICKS ASS. it's scary how easily our society could degenerate to this)
-- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (read it for school)
-- Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (i either read this, or only read parts of it. still... it's pretty cool, what with the separation of classes of people)
-- Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by A.N. Roquelaure (Anne Rice) (also, not my first porn, but my first introduction to the world of BDSM. i didn't understand much of it until later)
-- The Anarchist Cookbook by William Powell (:::cackles::: okay, so i only read excerpts of it from online, but still counts, ne?)
-- Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume (i *think* i read this. it's so long ago though)
-- Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut (one of my favorite books... EVER)
-- Lord of the Flies by William Golding (gave me nightmares. also, very disturbing look at the nature of man)
-- Native Son by Richard Wright (read for school)
-- Carrie by Stephen King (:::chuckles::: deeply scary. worse than the movie)
-- How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell (i'm pretty sure i read this one. i don't know why it would be banned though... maybe i'm forgetting something...)
why isn't "Sybil" on this list? that book was *damn* frightening from a psychological point of view. maybe it's because the lead actress won an Academy Award for her portrayal.
