...

went to my first day of orientation today.

okay, so i had about 4 hours of sleep because i was an utter IDIOT and left off my case briefing for the utter *last* minute. like, 11 PM last minute. same for my online financial entrance counseling, which i did at 10 PM and finished with after 30-35 minutes. but the briefs were okay, because dammit i've done that shit in my undergrad, so i can brief a case okay. of course, they were like, a page long with my sloppy ass handwriting, but since i had read "A Civil Action" all last semester for Philosophy of Law, i pretty much knew the case inside and out.

yay for me.

okay, so i went to sleep at around 1 AM, with horrible thoughts of Dr. Delahanty's classes plaguing me. dammit, i shouldn't have read "One L"; shit just gave me nightmares and made me even more paranoid than i already am. i woke up at 5:15 AM (actually a little before because dammit when i set my internal clock, i SET my internal clock), jumped in the shower blind (literally) and pretty much rushed around like a chicken with my head cut off. see, i have major BART anxiety. i was afraid there'd be an accident or something or i'd get lost and i'd be late. >_< hey, you can't blame me. i've always driven everywhere i wanted to go, i have an unnatural fear of public transportation. but i got on the BART okay (it's a 40 minute trip) but it's gonna get expensive *real* fast. $3.60 one way from Hayward to the Financial District. still, it's cheaper than driving (and paying toll) and parking (and paying $12 [!!!]) everyday.

i ended up at school like, 40 minutes early, but it was okay because i got to talk with 2 nice people (a 1L and a 2L). then was signing in, and getting our folders (and a free bag, though i already have a nice free one), and getting a compelmentary continental breakfast. i had coffee (half and half, six sugars) and some pastry stuff that was tasty (in addition to the granola bar, multi-vitamin, and a little milk i had before running out of the house).

i spent most of the day listening to lectures and such, speeches from the Dean, the deans, etc. we also had a mock Civil Procedures class. i didn't speak out of choice, but everything they talked about, i either had in my brief or knew in my head (go me!). more speeches, then a boxed lunch (ham sandwich, chips, cookies, soda, pasta salad) with our Peer Group, which is pretty much the same 20-ish people i'm going to see and have classes with for the rest of Law School. oh, btw... the 1L class is roughly 180 people (i don't remember the exact number), split into three Sections (100-100-80). then those three sections are split into Peer Groups (12 total).

then it was back to the Lecture Hall for more speeches about financial aid, the libraries, and stuffs like that. but the goodness was that i got *all* of my financial aid problems resolved (turned in my forms and stuff today), and i dropped off my locker request and change of address. the badness was that we already have assignments for next week :::whimper::: and i don't have my damn books yet! that's for tomorrow.

so i left Campus at a little after 3 PM and got lost walking to the BART station. THEN i got on the wrong BART and was going totally the wrong way. i had to get off, get on another train, ride it back up to my original stop (Montgomery for those who want to know), and then wait like an idiot for the train to FREMONT. after 30 minutes, i was on the *right* train.

i took a bit of a nap while riding. i was tired. oh, and interesting thing. the trip takes as long as 23 tracks on my ParaPara CD. yes, i was listening to it on the train. shut up.

i got home, changed my clothes, had a banana and some fruit punch, and took a nap. now i'm awake, had quesedillas for dinner, watched Buffy, and now i'm here.

and i still have to prepare for tomorrow.

Can you get monthly passes or anything for the BART? Kochou and I get them for MTA, and they're hella lots less expensive than paying regular fare or even using discount tokens. Less of a hassle, too, since we don't have to buy tickets everytime we take the subway, or check to make sure we have enough tokens or whatnot. ^_^

no monthly passes as such, unfortunately. you can buy tickets with a set amount of money (ie: $20, $42, etc) and use 'em up as you ride, but that's about it. then you can pump more money into 'em later (like pre-paid phone cards sorta).

i need more cash because i don't have enough on my ticket for tomorrow >_< and here i thought $10 would be okay for the week.

Sorry to hear that you are having such a pain in the ass with the BART. What about a parking pass? Can you get it cheap that way you can drive instead? Or do you not feel like driving? Well at least Dr. Teays prepared you for the lectures you are having now. And you said you didn't like her. ^_^ Aren't you happy she made you read a whole lot of crap to prepare you. :P Anyways...good luck. ^_^ Hope everything works out.
