... Heero didn't like to admit it to himself, but if he hadn't had the other Gundam pilots' help, he probably wouldn't have been able to stop Mariemaia Khushrenada's bid to take over the world. As it was, the attempted coup had almost been a success. It was only through sheer luck and determination that Dekim Barton's plan had failed and Operation Meteor had not come to pass.

Heero Yuy did not intend to make that same mistake twice.

In hindsight, viewing the whole string of events during the One Year Peace as he did his mission reports, Heero could easily see the problem. After the First Eve War, the Gundam pilots had moved away from each other, going on with their own lives. It was a human thing to do, to try to enjoy the peace that they had helped create. So, the five boys were preoccupied with their own lives, not living in the heightened state of watchfulness as they had during the war. That also stretched their forces across the entire Earth Sphere, and there were only five of them to begin with. Also, the lack of communication meant that the team could not easily scramble their forces and deal immediately with the threats to the peace.

Also was the matter of sending their Gundams into the sun, but since there were no Gundams now, it was a moot point.

Still, at any moment an underground faction could rise up and try to destroy the peace once more. That was unacceptable. Heero had done his best to make sure nothing like the Mariemaia Incident would not happen again. He kept careful track of the formed pilots as they eased back into their civilian lives once more.

Quatre was the easiest to watch. His position as President and CEO of WEI, and his forays into the world of politics made him a disturbingly public figure. If he wanted to, Heero just had to turn on the television to figure out where Quatre was. Trowa was almost as easy to keep track of. While the Latin boy had a tendency to join Catherine's Circus wherever it was, he was normally found wherever Quatre was. More than once, Heero had caught glimpses of Trowa hovering in the background as Quatre dealt with the press. The former pilots of Heavyarms and Sandrock were involved with each other, and while it seemed like they were only friends to the public, Heero knew the truth.

Wufei was a little harder to keep tabs on, but his involvement with the Preventers was a great help. While he was not quite in the public eye the same was Quatre was, Wufei was still a public figure. Heero had not expected the Altron pilot to join the government group, but then decided it was probably for the best. The Chinese boy still held onto his proud heritage as a warrior, and protected the peace the best way he knew how.

All that was left was Duo. Heero resisted the urge to growl as he quickly hacked through several shuttle schedules and passenger lists. Duo was the hardest of the pilots (same for himself) to track down. Though it seemed like he had established himself on L2, with that girl Hilde, a few months later Duo had disappeared. The American was prone to bouts of wanderlust, packing up his meager possessions and traveling wherever the road took him. Heero attributed this to Duo's lack of a stable home and his involvement with the Sweepers. Duo loved to see and experience new things, and he could probably be blamed for the rise in Heero's blood pressure. Within the last two months alone, Duo's presence had been sighted in no fewer than 17 countries and 3 colonies.

That was unacceptable. Heero had relied on Duo's help greatly during the Mariemaia Incident. In fact, he had been almost plesantly surprised when the braided boy had showed up out of nowhere to help him rescue Relena. Losing track of Duo was *not* an option, Heero vowed. It was a detriment to his mission. After much contemplation and planning, Heero had figured out the best way to keep track of the jovial American pilot, short of implanting a tracking device on him.

Heero was not unaware of the other boy's attraction to him. He had witnessed Duo cleverly concealed jealousy of Relena, and been the subject of Duo's teasing and flirtations. And while Heero did not return the feelings, he most certainly could use them to his advantage.

The laptop in front of him beeped. Duo's current location, the address of an apartment complex in Old Los Angeles, glowed on the screen. Heero's Prussian eyes gleamed with determination.

Heero's mission was to ensure the peace of the Earth Sphere and the Colonies at any cost.

And if he had to fuck Duo Maxwell to do it, then he would.
