Sad state of affairs...
May. 2nd, 2002 11:52 amNow, I know that you're supposed to celebrate May Day/Beltane by having bonfires and having lots of sex, but not like this, you bastards.
Of course, considering that May Day is a traditional celebration of Labor and the "Working Man," I suppose you can't really be surprised that this happened in France.
Damn those bourgeouise.

Date: 2002-05-02 12:59 pm (UTC)The idea of fesivals in paganism is that they celebrate natural occurrences. Thus, you can assume that Bealtaine is celebrated as it is because the natural energies of the earth move the celebrants to their revels. Since Christianity took over Europe, they banned the bonfires that used to mark the date, so the naturally occurring energies have no outlet like that anymore. So people turn to violence.
My two cents. ^_~
