Apr. 29th, 2002 10:10 amSo now they're trying to say that video games aren't considered "free speech."
This article managed to get my feathers all ruffled, especially since I gave a presentation last Friday on media violence in my Psych of Law class. I lead an hou-long discussion on how everyone tries to blame the media for all the violent acts that occur, but it just doesn't jive with me. And now this. It all turns into a snowball effect, you know. Once you start legislating and censoring one thing, it'll be another and another and it'll be the Third Reich all over again. I mean, this follows right on the heels of the court ruling that says that virtual child pornography isn't really pornography and is therefore acceptable. What does it say when we allow virtual child pornography and not allow virtual killing sprees? Do we really want to draw a line about which is "more evil."
You know, sometimes I really worry about what's going to happen to this country.
Stuff like this makes me tired.
