A question because I can't figure it out

How do you find out what your DS friend code or whatever is? I don't have Animal Crossing or Pokemon or anything like that, but Rune Factory 2 has wireless trading and I think you can use friend codes, too, but I don't know what mine is.

Is it somewhere on the DS? Or do you have to have Animal Crossing, etc. to get a code? Help!

I don't really know; I thought DS codes were game-specific, but I could be wrong.
