Oh, Ricky. ♥ You're such a pretty little girl.

DING DONG THE BITCH IS DEAD. THE BITCH IS DEAD. THE BITCH IS DEAD.

*dances around* Finally finally finally Victorya was booted off! I KNEW that once they had two jackets/coats going up against each other, that the judges would boot off the shabbier one. That ALWAYS happens when designers make the "same thing". And really? Victorya should've known better than to just sew crap to the bottom of an existing jacket. That just smacks of laziness, especially when everyone made their pieces.

I was kinda sad to see Jillian start breaking down though. But from the reaction she had, I thought she'd cut off her finger or something like that, not just pricked it. XP

No more immunity for anyone! Let's see if this causes MORE DRAMA, because God knows this season needs it.

And yes, I rather liked Ricky's dress. It was cute and finally had that lingerie-edge that shows that he really knows how to fit things on a woman's body. I wasn't quite loving the 'boob-flaps' at the top of the bust, but that seems to be in now? Lots of other designers have put that element onto their clothes this season. And I thought the skirt of his dress was supercute.

Sweet P's dress was also cute, and she made the patchwork look work for her. I'm SO glad she listened to Tim Gunn and hacked off the terrible bottom part. But Sweet P is actually smart enough to take Tim's advice when he says something isn't working right.

... unlike Chris. >_>;; Oh, Chris. I love you, Sissy Bear. But leaving the fray on the detail of your dress was SUCH a bad idea. You know the judges instantly pick up on stuff like that. And unfortunately, this dress sorta looked like that other bad one you made, with the red sash and red kick pleat in the back. It really was a older-looking style. ;__;

And the designers being annoyed by Emo Boy Christian always makes me happy. :D! Chris making that comment about youth killed me. But I will have to admit that Christian's outfit was pretty fierce tonight. Just. You know. It looked like everything else he's made before. Whenever he makes anything with pants, he always does the cropped jacket. x__X

As for one-notes... Rami! No, Rami, you can't drape denim. Though I did like the pleating on your skirt. The top half of your outfit, I kinda hated. Very sophisticated. Very Rami. But, honey, zippers on seams has been done before. In fact, it was done by Jeffrey on Season 3. And he did it better than you. But it was still a really nice detail.

Oh, and while I'm thinking about it, I find myself curiously intrigued by what next week's challenge will be. "Sex noises"? Dare I hope it is something titillating with possible shirtless cute male models again?

I keep seeing people talk about Rami constantly draping, so I went and checked his designs for the entire season. Unless I'm missing something, he's only done it three out of nine times.

Christian is much more guilty of doing the same super fitted jacket/tight skirt or pants look all the time. I'd like to see something different from Christian for a change.

I think it's sort of like Hung from Top Chef. He loved to sous vide and did it when he could, so that's what everyone remembers him for, even though he only did it like... 3 or 4 times. I checked the Project Rungay archives, and you're right. He's only draped 3 times (4 if you count the pre-season runway show), but the other challenges he literally couldn't drape because the materials wouldn't work or the challenge wouldn't let him. Rami's "thing" is the way he drapes (which is fabulously hard to do, and he does it fabulously well). But he's also kinda stuck up and prefer to dress a certain "set" or people (namely middle-aged upperclass women) and that tends to show in his style. Whenever he DOES get the chance to drape though, he does it. And it's so obvious.

I totally agree about Christian. He's got that whole tight pant/short jacket vibe with a smack of 80s that makes me kinda shudder. He's talented, I'll admit that. But I can't stand his style sometimes most of the time.

I loved Sweet Pea's dress - a very 'everything, anywhere' dress. Probably that's why it didn't win, but I think this was the most marketable.

I can't believe Chris didn't take Tim's advice. Has he even watched previous shows? Everything Tim says is spot on (if for nothing else) because he knows the judges. Any of those designers who ignore his comments can just kiss the show goodbye. Sweet Pea did and it went from bad to fab. Hint: Know when to listen. Do what it takes to win and then you can get an attitude.

Christian: I hate his attitude, but,god,he is gifted. Rami should go home. He doesn't want to do anything else but his style, so why the hell is he there.

I agree with pretty much everything you say. *nods*

What bothered me about last night's ep was something I noticed in the Hershey's ep too.

Remember in Season 2, when they did Barbie? They had the Matell VP on saying, "We want to give MyScene Barbie(R) a new, hip look."

Compare that to the VPs from Hershey's and Levi saying, "Take this stuff and make something. [My Brand] has been creating [Valuable Product] for the last [Number] years."

Notice the difference? Yeah. They weren't challenges so much as product endorsement ads in the middle of my tv show. =(

I'm curious about whether you read Tim Gunn's blog about the episode. He was very surprised that it was Ricky who won. Tim was impressed by what Rami did. He also liked the way Sweet P came back from almost certain disaster, and he thought Christian's outfit was fierce.

I like that Tim tells it like it is. ^____^

I read his blog last night. ^^ I'm surprised that he was surprised. Last night I went to Levi's website to see if they had the dress for sale (they did, and it sold out this morning) and was looking at the pictures there. There's actually a LOT of detail and little things on that dress that we couldn't see on TV because we didn't get closeups.

One of the things I loved was that Ricky actually did the trademark "Levi's double-stitching" on all of his seams. So for the challenge, he really did capture the "spirit" of Levi's more than anyone else; he didn't just make an outfit from denim, you know?

Of course, I dunno if anyone else did that sort of thing on their outfits, but I was AMAZED that Ricky put that much details into it.

It's also possible that they embellished the dress after it was originally made, to spruce it up for sales. We'll never really know, I guess. ^_~

Nah, I checked Project Rungay, and they have closeups of the dress on the catwalk. It's the same details and stitching. I'm just glad Ricky managed to win something, especially since he might get booted off anyway.

No spoilers!!

I loved Sweet P's dress too, since it was very marketable. But I think that it didn't fulfill everything for the "spirit of Levi's" which is why it didn't win. It was more a 'denim dress' than a 'Levi's dress', you know?

And Chris? Oh god, I just wanted to THROTTLE him when he didn't listen to Tim Gunn about that frayed edge. Chris was the one harping on Kevin about his unhemmed dress in the prom challenge! Chris was lucky that Victorya and Jillian's dresses sucked so bad, or he might've gotten booted over that.

Christian: total agreement with you. But I want to punch him in the face for his kind of 80s vibe that he keeps trying to push off as "fierce".

Rami: Unfortunately, he's probably gonna be in the Top 3. He is very sophisticated and talented (like Laura in Season 3), but that might hold him back if he puts the same dress down the runway 12 times.

I agree with you about the constant product endorsements. =___=;; I think they're sort of ruining the show, though they do provide a nice incentive for designers to do their best. But now it's like "ENDORSMENT ENDORSMENT SELL YOUR DESIGN FOR US BLAH BLAH" constantly, instead of the neat little thing you get sometimes. It makes the designers get to say: "Oh well, I don't like Company X that much, I won't work as hard because there will be another challenge with a company I like" instead of how it would be tooth and nail for these opportunities in past seasons.

The only thing that saved it was that Jefferey has an edgier look, compared to Rami's sophisticated one. But it was still zippers on seams. >.>;;

I WANT CHRIS TO GET HIS GROOVE BACK. HE NEEDS TO MAKE MORE FABULOUS THINGS.

I was so happy when she got the boot. XD! When they were on the runway for the announcement, she totally looked like she was going to vomit right there.
