Ri didn't like baths all that much. He submitted to them because Ri-ku let him splash and play and always put lots of bubbles in the water, but he didn't quite understand why he needed them since he'd just go play and get dirty again anyway. But he supposed being clean was better than being stinky and dirty, especially when it was naptime. Plus, he got more cuddles and kisses when he wasn't covered head to toe in mud.
Riku happened to like baths a lot. He was like a fish in the water and liked the warm water and bubbles and Riri was always there with him. Of course, Riku liked running and jumping and rolling around in the dirt like any other little boy, but baths were nice and special and really, bubbles. Bubbles everywhere to play with.
The two boys had just had another fun day playing and exploring the beach (Ri had only pushed Riku down once, and that was into the water, so it didn't count), and returned back home (Ri-ku's home, since Ri knew the way and everything because he was a big boy). They were both covered in generous amounts of sea salt and sand and ice cream too, since they had conspired and given the ice cream vendor puppy dog eyes together and he'd given them a big chocolate cone to share. Neither Ri-ku or Riri were anywhere to be found though, and Ri didn't like the way Riku's eyes filled with tears, wiping a chubby fist against his dirty face.
Ri did the only thing he knew; he punched Riku in the arm, then kissed the owwie, then dragged the other boy into the bathroom and started taking off his clothes. Riku's green eyes went wide and he clutched his shirt in fear, but Ri just shoved his hands away and yanked the clothing over Riku's head.
"I said I'd take care of you, right?" Ri said, pulling off his own shirt. "So I am, and we'll have a bath, and naptime, and then I'll make you some cereal."
Riku just smiled alittle, wiggling out of his shorts as Ri did the same, then watching curiously as Ri fiddled with the knobs of the tub. "I can have extra marshmallows?"
Ri nodded, looking at the bottle of bubble bath before cheerfully dumping half the bottle under the running water. "Uh huh. You cry when you don't, so I'll give you mine."
"I do NOT cry!"
Sticking out his tongue, Ri teased. "Crybaby girly boy Riku! You always cry and that's why I have to be here, because I'm a big boy an' big boys have to protect the girly boys."
Riku pouted, then gave Ri a little shove, ducking the retaliation and climbing into the bathtub. Water sloshed everywhere, then really splashed when Ri jumped in and started throwing bubbly water by the handful at Riku. Both boys splashed and played, trying to drown each other in the tub, until Ri held Riku down for a little too long, and Riku choked and sputtered when he came back up.
"Sorry, Riku!" Ri apologized, pulling the other boy into a cuddle and rubbing his back. Riku was focused on breathing, but managed to smile when Ri gave him a little kiss to make everything better.
"Fingers are gettin' wrinkly... we need to wash," Riku finally said in his best 'I'm a big boy too' tone.
Shampoo and soap were liberally applied, and Ri even cried a little when it got into his eyes, but Riku kissed that better and everything was okay. Riku was about to climb out of the tub when Ri grabbed his arm and pulled him back in.
"Ow!"
"Can't leave yet! We almost forgot to wash our boy parts!"
Riku's mouth went into a little 'o' of surprise. How could he have forgotten to wash his boy parts? "I'll wash yours and you wash mine, Ri, then we'll be sure we did it good."
Ri agreed, then reached out to help Riku soap up his hands. They squirmed to face each other in the tub, legs spread wide as they could, then squirmed more when little fingers tickled against sensitive boy bits. Riku felt his face heat up when he felt that strange funny butterfly feeling in his tummy, looking down to watch Ri rub his hand between Riku's legs. The boy blinked at him in askance, then smiled in that way that sorta wasn't nice, and Riku braced himself for teasing.
"You feel tickly, too? I get tickly when you rub me. I guess that means we're clean."
Riku just nodded, knowing his face must be pink, but Ri didn't say anything as he pulled the drain plug and proceeded to smother Riku and himself with the big fluffy towels. There was a lot of water on the floor, and their clothes and the towels, but Ri just said it was fine.
"Ri-ku fixes everything."
So still feeling tingly, but also warm and content, Riku didn't complain as Ri lead him by the hand to their bed, helping boost him up and climbing up after. They both wiggled under the covers, not bothering with PJs, and Riku immediately snuggled up to the other boy. Ri just huffed and puffed, but wrapped his arms around Riku.
"Silly girly boy."
"Am not."
"Are so."
"Not!"
"So!" Then Ri leaned closer and gave Riku another kiss, on the lips this time, and Riku's eyes went wide. "I say so, so it's true, but I don't care if you're a girly boy. Now you sleep."
Riku felt himself get all tingly again, and shyly pressed his lips against Ri's in return, watching Ri's surprised expression with a little smile before snuggling close and closing his eyes. Ri just squeezed him like a teddy bear, then yawned. And then they both fell asleep, tangled together like puppies.
