windandwater: (Wankery)
After reading Fandom Wank, and cleolinda's summaries, and even published articles about this whole thing, I am so very glad that I have not read the Twilight series and have no desire to.

Because, really, I understand about reading it purely for the wank fodder and enjoying its immense horribleness. I actually don't understand legitimately liking this series as prose. Well, maybe for the first books if you're a teenage girl or whatever, but Breaking Dawn? Really? I read the spoilers and summaries and excerpts and it pretty much squicked the HELL out of me, and I'm very hard to squick in the first place.

But reading the wank has made my day endlessly more amusing.

... oh, and I'll qualify myself for sticking through and reading terrible things, because besides the bad fanfics I subject myself to near daily, I've read Piers Anthony. And yes, I was misguided and thought I liked it. Until I grew a brain and realized how horrible he writes.

If anyone comments, there will probably be spoilers discussed.

Hey, I sorta ended up on Fandom Wank! In the comments.

For the record, I did specify that I thought the seat looked like a malformed penii. And in a later comment, explained how the 'seat' were squashed balls, and the 'joystick' thing was a thin little penii. Man, too bad the original post was deleted. I liked the discussion about vagina dentata.

Because I was curious, and I have the emails from comment replies, I checked what I said exactly. Also, my thread was actually linked in the FW post under the word "isn't".

cut because the text is for my own fond memories )

Yes, I've read the news about the latest Supreme Court ruling (re: child rape and death penalty).

No, I do not plan on saying any more on the subject unless asked in a comment or some-such. I have certain opinions that I'm pretty sure would be considered unfavorable by many, and I don't like to cause undue RL drama in my LJ. Subjects like this are very touchy and above all, personal, and I'd hate to somehow alienate people whom I consider friends, let alone start a fight about this.

I am participating in the LJ Content Strike from 5pm today (Thursday) until 5pm Friday. While I have any number of reasons to participate, for me, it's gotten a tad personal since it was my comment in the announcement on [ profile] lj_2008 that was ohsowonderfully targeted by an LJ Staff member to reply to. How wonderful. LJ Staff gives their position, but has to bury it 3 pages into a wankstorm. Forgive me for failing to be impressed.

I know who Anton Nosik is. I read his interview (both translations even!). I read his response to being out-ed by everyone. I still fail to remain impressed by the spin, and the fact that he seems to prefer attacking those critical of him rather than giving honest answers.

I think that I will spend tonight and tomorrow playing Trickster, writing fics, and RPing. Because these things make me happy. ♥ Oh, I'll be doing my laundry, too.

-- My dragons grew up! *is still a-squee about that* And I immediately bred them. >_>;; Yay new pink egg!
-- My booster bracer on Trickster ran out. It's was a 15-day 1.5x bracer that I got as a prize so it's no big loss, but still. Boo. I didn't use it to its fullest extent (like how I was grinding for a full 3 hours in a Royal party with my EX bracer), but I'm not too upset. I managed to level anyway.
-- Straight from [ profile] lj_2008, apparently, I am a target for wankery. Please avoid this link if you don't wanna see the current LJ bitchery.
-- This is where I'm be playing during the boycott. If you're curious. Nothing much there yet, but I found some tools to help me migrate my journal entries and such. I'm not leaving LJ wholesale yet, so don't worry.
-- ForumWarz is still tons of fun. Domination is turning me into a bitch. Or maybe that's my hormones.
-- I have chocolates~!! ♥ ♥

Straight from [ profile] sf_drama (sorta like FW), and of COURSE, LJ wasn't gonna announce this until it was too late.

LOS ANGELES, CA, March 17, 2008 – News Corporation announced today that it signed a definitive agreement to acquire the LiveJournal trademark and organization from their current owners, Russian media company SUP Fabrik, for approximately $580 million in cash, or the equivalent of $12 per common share. The acquisition of LiveJournal, combined with the recently announced formation of Fox Interactive Media, underscores News Corporation’s commitment to expand its internet presence by offering a deeper, richer online experience for its millions of users.

With the addition of LiveJournal, News Corporation’s U.S. web traffic will nearly double to more than 45 million unique monthly users, putting the Company in the top echelon of most trafficked content sites on the Internet today. LiveJournal is one of the largest and earliest multi-category online entertainment networks, with more than 27 million unique monthly users. LiveJournal's fusion of community and personal "blogging" allowed the network to capture a remarkably large market share in its earlier years, and continues to attract millions of users every week.

"LiveJournal is an important acquisition for News Corp., instantly doubling the number of visitors to our sites and providing an ideal foundation on which to meaningfully increase our internet presence," said News Corporation's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Rupert Murdoch. "LiveJournal's trademark name is one of the web's hottest properties and resonates well with the same consumers we are currently targeting for further consumption. LiveJournal's ongoing popularity, combined with our existing online assets, will provide a richer experience for today's internet users."

The transaction is expected to close in the 2nd quarter of calendar year 2008, and is subject to certain customary conditions including approval of the LiveJournal common and preferred investors.

"We are very excited to combine our unique Internet reach and assets with one of the most exciting media companies in the world. We look forward to continuing to lead the market in unique content, social networking, and analytical marketing," said Andrew Paulson, SUP Fabrik's Founder and CEO.

LiveJournal founder Brad Fitzpatrick was unavailable for comment.

Video of the press statement is here.

... am I the only one looking out for Project Chanology reports about what happened today?

Beware the Ides of March.
windandwater: (Dear LJ)
Oh my god, they actually did it. I KNEW SixApart was planning on jumping ship like a bunch of rats, but I didn't think it would be this soon. But LJ is now sold to a new company. SUP, which is based in Russia.

I just... have no words. Except for:

EDIT (what, already?)...

Courtesy one of the comments in that news post, here's some handy phrases we'll need in the future.

LOL = лол
OMG = омг
WTF = втф
shit = шит
sucks = сакс
bear surprise = превед медвед (important)
tl;dr = ниасилил многа букав
windandwater: (Kyuubi -- So FUCKED)

... >_>;;

I read this last night, and had no coherent thoughts, as my brain shut down from the sheer gall and stupidity. And then I read it again after I woke up, and no... I didn't dream it. This really is JUST that stupid and uninformed and hurtful. It's like a trainwreck really, watching LJ/6Apart backtrack and doublespeak and generally dig their own graves over this.

I will hope it gets better before my paid time runs out. But if it doesn't, I don't know if I'll give LJ more of my money.

Now I'm going to read pr0n to get this bad taste out of my mouth. I think I've hit my level of stupidity for the month or something by now.
windandwater: (This icon causes Drama)
I go away for the weekend and teh internets asplodes while I'm not looking.

Someone(s) give me the rundown on what the hell is going on, relevant links accepted. I'm on crappy dial-up since the wireless won't let me leech connect.

... and someone tell me if this made Fandom Wank.
windandwater: (Tea with Demyx)
Have decided that I am falling headlong into incoherence and... and... something else. Some big SAT word that I can't think of right now because my brain is filled with words like res ipsa and estoppel and piercing the corporate veil.

No, the last isn't as kinky as it sounds. T__T

Let's have a bunch of random things that have little-to-no connection to each other, besides the fact that they're in my brain.

-- [ profile] moocards has released their StickerBooks. 90 stickers in a cute little book for $9.99. I think shipping is free, too. [ profile] luscious_sarah? I think you were being squeeful about stickers?
-- Why is Barry White so awesome? Yay for the Noontime Disco Workout that I got to listen to while I was driving. They also played ABBA and Village People. MACHO MACHO MAN.
-- I want to babble about Trickster. And I want to play. But I can't. T__T I was lucky that I managed to get online on the wireless for a half hour the other night and managed to finish the event quests and get my Festival Ticket before the patch. Maybe I'll babble about it later.
-- Why don't people know how to drive? And why don't they know how to order at a drive-thru window? ;__;
-- Still avoiding HP spoilers like the plague.
-- I don't know what I'm babbling about anymore, so I'll stop.

-- I have absolutely nothing to say about this. >_>;; If tentacle shouta fics start randomly appearing in my LJ, it's pure coincidence.

cut for hilarious but possibly spoilery animated gif )

-- This .gif makes me laugh and I don't know why. Uhm. If it's considered spoilery, I'll cut it. But... I don't think it is? I don't really know much about Death Note besides what I picked up from CFUD.

-- 101 Meals Ready in 10 Minutes or Less. This might come in handy for anyone who is busy but likes food.
windandwater: (Bakura knows Carnage)
Apparently the Potterdammerung has begun.

Copies of HP:DH are already on the internet as .pdf and people are reading. I am now being completely wary of EVERYTHING I read on the internet and will probably focus only on safe sites. x__X No spoilers, please. I actually liked reading a real book and not squinting at my laptop screen.
windandwater: (Yami says STFU)
... there are many things I could say about the LJ apology but... I'm tired and don't know where to start or end and get stuck in the middle too. I'm just glad the fandom LJs are being returned, but I will still be somewhat leery of LJ for awhile. They seem to have a bad habit of Doing Shit That Makes People Angry and then apologizing for it after, when people complain and call them on it.

In other news, Aoi-chan's internet is dead. I was not the one that killed it. I don't like snuff. But I did get to play Guitar Heero Hero and now my arm and wrist are kinda achy. Also, I need to take my cool pictures of my check and MOO cards. :3
windandwater: (Dear LJ)
Wonderful. XP

I am making my blanket statement right now to ease any worries: I am NOT locking down my LJ nor deleting any possibly 'offensive' content. In fact, when I checked my interests, the worst thing there was 'tentacles' and 'bunnies'. I didn't delete those either, btw.

I will not let the Weeaboos of Ignorance scare me off my own journal.

Since I started this LJ years and years ago (ogod in undergrad), I made it a policy to keep this journal open for public viewing and commentary. I do not delete even the most noxious of flames (but I will publically mock you for it). I have, in the years this journal has existed, only flocked a small handful of entries that were of extreme personal nature.

Basically, if you want to read about what I had for lunch (many entries on this subject, today is tater tots and fried shrimp), listen to me whine about the library (yes, it's very cold), or even... possibly! ... read pr0n when I put it up (hahaha I haven't written in awhile, so keep wishing), HAVE AT. I only require an open mind, an appreciation for irreverent humor, and I'd sorta like it if you were semi-literate (or else you wouldn't be reading this journal anyway).

Now that I've said that, I feel much better.

Let's move on to other things, shall we?

In an effort to not be a downer, here is a list of happy things that happened to me that I would like to share:

-- I DID get my check from Treasure Trooper. It came last week (Thursday to be exact) and I still haven't had time to go to the bank and deposit it. I will be taking a picture of it for proof. ^____^
-- I got my free 10-pack of MOO Cards in the mail yesterday! They are so little and cute, and yes, I will take pictures of them too, just to share the cuteness! Now I really want to make up a second set for an RP account just for fun.
-- My full JRock Revolution concert report for both days is upcoming! I want to make it all pretty with pictures and such, so those still need to be uploaded. I think it's just taken me this long to finally settle and process everything that happened. I do, however, have one of my videos up online already. Yes, I joined YouTube just to share my vids. ^^ I apologize for the shakiness and the sound of my screechy screaming (you can hear my voice strain and crack at some points).
-- I was supposed to go rape Aoi-chan's wireless to the library today, but apparently the maternal unit ordered some sort of storage system to be delivered today (like a shed for the backyard or something), so I have to stay here to get it. Bleh. I hope to see Pirates 3 tomorrow then. *prods Aoi*

That's it for now, I think. Time for lunch. And then a shower. And then the shed-thingy should get here.
windandwater: (Leon and Cloud did your mom)
And my response to all of this kerfluffle? The most incindiary thing possible, of course.

30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man around here to lie with us, as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let's get our father to drink wine and then lie with him and preserve our family line through our father."

33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and lay with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.

34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I lay with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and lie with him so we can preserve our family line through our father." 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went and lay with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.

36 So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father. 37 The older daughter had a son, and she named him Moab ; he is the father of the Moabites of today. 38 The younger daughter also had a son, and she named him Ben-Ammi ; he is the father of the Ammonites of today.

-- The Bible (New International Version), Genesis 19:30-38

... whew! Not just incest, but dubious consent, alcohol, conspiracy, pregnancy... this one has it all! Once again proof that the Bible did it all first, and better than everyone else. :Db

Don't make me whip out The Song of Songs. I'll do it if I have to.
windandwater: (Wankery)
... and I also like pr0n. ♥

Someone tell me whether or not having a nice pr0ny drabblewar in my LJ would be a good idea or not. The last one I had with Moff was very fun. And I completely broke her and won the fight. :D

With this going on now, and the FanLib thing, I'm thinking some nice dirty fun would be enjoyable.
windandwater: (Wankery)
I actually watched The O'Reilly Factor this afternoon just because Stephen Colbert was the guest. And now I just watched The Colbert Report. I love Stephen Colbert so SO much. ♥ Though not as much as I love Jon Stewart. Colbert totally ripped into O'Reilly, and it was so obvious that O'Reilly either didn't get the jokes, didn't get that he was being mocked, or is just terribly bad at being witty. Possibly all three!

TV winz tonight. WINZ.

Hello, page 34!

... I feel oddly proud for some reason. I never get the first post on long comment pages like that. Maybe it's a sign.

LJ, plz to stop being a retard kthnxbai.
windandwater: (Crack Relena Greenleaf)
Now, I'm rusty on my Tolkien, and haven't read The Silmarillion yet, but I know enough about the history of Middle Earth to know that an elf in the Third Age (or probably any other after the First) wouldn't murder another elf. Especially not one like Elrond.

Can we say "Kinslaying", fantwit?
windandwater: (Neji -- Fear No Evil)
I had a tasty late lunch. It's a good thing, too, since it turns out that I'm not going to be picked up from the Library until 7:30pm. =___=;; I wanted to leave at 6. Oh well, more time to study. Or maybe more time to build up a seething ball of hate and venom deep in my gut. I'm really trying very hard to not be all ranty and wanky because... I don't like to be ranty and wanky. It gives me indigestion.

*throttles down the bad urges*

I'll just drown myself in Contracts or Property or something that I don't want to talk anymore about because it'll depress me. I'm glad I have my ice cream at home though.

Or maybe I should write that happy fluffy Valentine-ish Heero/Duo fic. I was supposed to write it last night, but the Naruto one got away from me instead. *kicks bunny*

... someone please love me gently. ♥
windandwater: (Itachi -- Have some candy little boy)
Yes, that's right. Something positive and happy for Valentine's Day. Which means sappy and cute oneshot fics. This will keep me from being wanky about things I shouldn't be wanky about. I've already got an idea for a Naruto fic and a GW one. ♥ Just need to type.

Or maybe eat the last tiny bit of chocolate stump I have left.
windandwater: (Bitch Please)
So. Hi. Uhm. No one in Texas is married right now.

I hope they have fun with that.

... part of me wants to read over the text of the proposition myself, but not right now. Right now I am sleepy and not in the mood to logically rip apart clauses. But I can. I so totally can. I have a degree to prove it, too.

*snorts* Identical to marriage.

Wow. That was just really amusing.
